Hunters and Collectors lead guitarist Barry Palmer is still on a great crusade for a holy sale and he’s cut the asking price for his Balnarring Beach home to get it.
The ARIA Hall of Fame band member was hoping for a short song and a hell of a story when he listed the 3 Library Rd home earlier this year.
Now, despite raising four corners of the globe, he’s still searching for a home sale — with the price down $450,000 to get buyers back in the door amid a shift in Melbourne’s housing market.

A mainstay of the hit Aussie rock group that produced hits including Holy Grail, Throw Your Arms Around Me, When the River Runs Dry and Do You See What I See, Palmer has called the four-bedroom house home since 2013.
He’s also played for the Sole Twisters, Harem Scarem and Crown of Thorns, and is also the co-founder of music production firm Gigantically Small — alongside Aussie music industry exec Josh Simmons.

Lawns and low-care gardens wrap around the other sides of the home.
Earlier in the year he told the Herald Sun it had been a 10-bedroom maze intended to house itinerate workers, but that they had renovated and cut that down to four — though still retained “as much of the quintessential Aussie beach house as possible”.
The floorplan now hosts an open-plan living area and kitchen in its eastern wing, a family room on the western front, and the whole house wraps around three sides of a central courtyard with a deck and pool where Palmer has been known to take his speakers and guitar outside for a session.

The house is designed for extensive natural light, but still has its original beach house feel.
“And my neighbours just ask me to turn it up … I’m very fortunate to have incredible neighbours,” he said.
He and partner Jodie Cousins initially had the home listed with $3.95m-$4.3m hopes, but in the past few weeks have revised the figure to $3.5m-$3.85m.
Homes and Acreage agent Candice Blanch is handling the sale and said the revised price reflected her vendors’ determination to sell, as well as the recognition of what the market is doing.
A high ceiling above one of the home’s living areas adds a lofty feel to the residence.
An open-plan living zone provides scope to entertain or to relax.
“They have adjusted accordingly,” Ms Blanch said.
“A lot of the people who have looked at the home have love the location and the styling of the property and the way it wraps around the outdoor entertainment area. There’s been no negative feedback.
“It’s just finding the buyer with that budget at the moment.”
The agent added that for many buyers there was also a need to sell another property to pursue this address.
