A cheaper pathway to owning a modern home is coming to Brisbane, with a collection of 34 boutique townhouses just half an hour from the city.

Songbird Terraces is the last development in Oxley’s masterplanned community: headed up by Economic Development Queensland and featuring projects from a variety of local developers.

Songbird Terraces is a boutique development of 34 townhouses in Oxley, in development with Honeycombes Property Group.

Developed by Honeycombes Property Group, the homes are designed as an alternative to the typical Aussie house: keeping prices lower while still including up-to-date amenities.

Each townhouse will feature either three bedrooms and a multipurpose room or four bedrooms, with prices ranging between $1.195m and $1.59m.

With 20 homes already under contract, 14 homes remain up for purchase in the suburb.

The homes were designed to provide residents with modern amenities and lifestyle options, while keeping prices lower than that of a traditional house with the same features.

Honeycombes managing director Peter Honeycombe said they had originally planned a higher-density building, until feedback from locals looking to downsize encouraged them to look into two-storey townhouses.

“We had a lot of workshops with local residents,” he said. “In fact, the majority of our purchasers are people in close proximity to the project.

“Ultimately they ended up putting their money where their mouth is.”

20 homes are currently under contract, with prices for each spot ranging between $1.195m and $1.59m.

The homes are designed to feature a view of the surrounding bushland, and will share a communal heated pool, BBQ terrace, private parkland and on-site cafe.

The area also remains close to Oxley’s local schools, along with the village centre and easy access to the CBD.

“We’re conscious that with townhouse living and apartment living, people still want to live individually,” Mr Honeycombe said.

Clearcon Builders began construction on the site in November, with new homeowners expected to move in by early 2027.

Homeowners Agnes Skoraczewska and Matt Biskupski purchased a three-bedroom townhouse in the development, and said they were relieved to have found a spot they could afford near the city.

“The truth is, we didn’t want to wait any longer,” Mr Biskupski said. “Seeing what was happening in the market, we realised now was the right time to buy. It gives us peace of mind knowing we no longer have to worry about renting.”

Construction began in November with Clearcon Builders, and is expected to finish in early 2027.
