Supercars champion James Courtney says he has sold houses through Instagram alone, and he’s betting a new TV role will take his real estate gig to another level.
Courtney has joined Gold Coast prestige agency Kollosche while also signing on with Supercars’ revamped commentary team, following a controversial shake-up of the existing line-up.
While racing fans reeled as veteran voice Neil Crompton was axed after 24 years, Courtney wasted no time turning it into a property play ahead of his return to the circuit at Sydney 500 this weekend.

“The national exposure and corporate networks that accompany motorsports provide tangible benefits,” he said.
“Being part of the telecast team places you in front of people. That visibility and connection will absolutely help in my career as an agent.
“Couple this with some savvy digital marketing and you can reach an audience of hundreds of thousands with just one post. I have literally sold houses off an Instagram post.”
Through motorspots, Courtney said he was connected to high-net-worth individuals active in property markets across Queensland.

“You meet CEOs, business leaders, people with significant portfolios,” he said.
“Many of them are looking for lifestyle properties on the Gold Coast and that’s where I can help.”
Courtney also confirmed he will drive endurance events for the factory General Motors-backed Team 18 in 2026.
The former Ford flyer gained his real estate licence in 2024, selling more than $67m worth of property in his first year with McGrath Real Estate at Paradise Point.

Joining Broadbeach-based Kollosche this month, Courtney said he leveraged his relationship with the firm’s managing partner and fellow racing driver Shane Smollen.
“Michael Kollosche has built an elite and highly respected brand.
“That coupled with my connection to Shane through racing made it seem like a natural fit.”
Mr Smollen said Courtney’s appointment reflected the increasing value of profile, trust and networks in the luxury real estate sector.
“James has built relationships at the highest level of Australian sport and business over a long period of time,” Mr Smollen said.
“What stands out is how seriously he has approached real estate. He is committed to his career, and brings a calm professionalism that clients respond to.”
