A coastal family home with unique character and a Top-End inspired mural has hit the property market in a sought after pocket.

The home at 8 Coolibah St, Nightcliff, was snapped up by the current owners two years ago in a twist of fate.

“We weren’t even looking,” one of the owners said.

“We were down at the Nightcliff Foreshore, talking about where we’d love to live in Darwin and we both said ‘Nightcliff’.

The couple saw a write up about 8 Coolibah St being for sale and decided to check it out.

“We drove passed it and saw it was open and that’s how we ended up buying it,” the owner said.

The couple and their two kids quickly took to Nightcliff living.

“We love it here,” the owner said.

“Every day we are down along the foreshore.

“I walk down to a little coffee van called Crybaby and get my coffee.

“We ride to dinner about once a week and then head to the foreshore for ice cream.

“If you lean into the Nightcliff lifestyle, this home is in the best street in the best location – it feels like you’re on holidays every day.”

The family also fell in love with the home.

“It’s such a beautiful home,” the owner said.

“It’s open and breezy with high ceilings and exposed beams.

“I really love the arches, too.”

Set on an 897 sqm block, the home is spread across two levels and has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and parking for two cars.

The house has a Spanish mission feel with arches, terracotta coloured roof, rendered walls, balconies and covered verandas.

Downstairs there is an open plan living and dining room opening to the front and rear verandas, a separate lounge, a versatile fourth bedroom and an updated kitchen.

The kitchen has granite benchtops, modern appliances and a servery to the alfresco space.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, a family bathroom and an ensuite to the main bedroom.

Outside there is a large pool, a pergola, lawn space and established gardens.

There is even some street art painted on a boundary wall.

Commissioned by the previous owners, the huge mural of a magpie goose and green ant was painted by Jesse Bell of Proper Creative across three days.

“Some people have come in and just said ‘wow’ when they see it,” the owner said.

But as impressive as the artwork is, the owner said her kids loved the big pool and expansive backyard the most.

“They can have their friends over and just be outside,” she said.

“Then there’s all the kids living on the street.

“That’s one of the reasons we bought the home, actually.

“When we first drove down the street we could see all basketball hoops and trampolines.

“Kids are always riding up and down the street on their scooters and on Halloween all the street puts out Halloween baskets.”

The owners are only selling as they are relocating, but will miss their spacious home and convenient Nightcliff address.

“You don’t have to get in the car much living here,” the owner said.

“Everything is close by.

“The kids can even ride to school.”

The home is close to Sunset Park, Nightcliff Foreshore, Nightcliff Jetty, schools, shops and cafes.

It is also just 15 minutes from the Darwin CBD.
