Hollywood homes: Agencies producing box office marketing videos

A real estate agent has been seen parachuting into a home in Sydney’s south in the latest example of real estate agents going to extreme lengths to make their listings standout.

Selling agent Tiffany Perez of Ray White can be seen in a video promoting the house near Cronulla performing a range of different stunts in various set pieces.

This included getting Aussie actor Richard Roxburgh (Rake, Van Helsing) to dive into the pool from the balcony.

The video comes amid an arms race between agencies to create viral videos that capture people’s attention.

“This project seemed like a fun and creative way to help a couple sell their family home – a movie in miniature, drawing on the skills of Nash Edgerton and some madcap Hollywood nostalgia, including wire stunts, a screwball chase sequence and a pool plunge,” Mr Roxburgh said of the video.

The advertised property at 33 Shorebird Parade, Greenhills Beach will be sold at auction in November, unless sold prior.

Ms Perez called the property’s promotional video “the most extraordinary” she had ever done.

“Normally, I’d just do a quick intro and walk-through of a home I’m selling, but in this video, I came flying in by parachute, dropped from the ceiling like something out of a Mission Impossible.”

The film was directed by Nash Edgerton, the older brother of Australian actor Joel Edgerton (Warrior, Star Wars).

Real estate agent Josh Horner has become known for his extravagant promotional videos.

It’s far from the first time a real estate agent has gone Hollywood to help sell a home.

Back in April, Josh Horner of The Horner Agency went all out for a property walk-through, with a cinematic ad that saw him parody Indiana Jones, The Sound of Music and The Greatest Showman.

Commenters on the video praised Horner’s dedication and flair, calling it “absolutely awesome,” and “hilarious”.

Also in April of this year, Academy Award winner Liam Neeson (Taken, Star Wars) provided voiceover for a marketing video advertising a Melbourne home.

The sellers of the Mulgrave property are friends with Neeson’s family and called in a favour to help them produce their Taken-inspired property ad.

The home sold at auction for $1.332m.

Queensland agency Duke Realty garnered attention for their Hollywood spoofs back in 2023.

They produced a multitude of magazine-style photo shoots for their listings, parodying Batman & Robin, The Queen’s Gambit and The Real Housewives for different properties.

In the case of The Queen’s Gambit themed sale in Bulimba, QLD, the owners made an additional $300,000 on their property, with the home selling for $1.235m at the first open home.

Duke Realty director Sam Patterson said at the time that he felt they were ahead of the game in terms of property marketing.

“You have to be different if you want to stand out from the crowd,” Mr Patterson said.
