The Hells Angels could be looking at an almost $1.3m windfall as they sell off a home in a ritzy Melbourne neighbourhood.
In addition to a three-bedroom, one-bathroom house with parking for two cars and an undesignated number of motorcycles, the Alphington property comes with a colourful history including the occasional police raid at the Outlaw Motorcycle Group’s neighbouring club house.
It also served as the one-time residence of Hells Angels’ president, secretary and sergeant-at-arms Christopher “Ball Bearing” Coelho.

Among the features he and other bikies would have enjoyed over the years are decorative ceilings, picture rails, an open fireplace and a vintage, green oven in the kitchen.
Located on Heidelberg Rd, the 727sq m allotment is advertised with “endless potential” and as “an outstanding prospect for developers, builders and astute buyers seeking flexibility, income and future potential”.

Records show the dwelling has been owned by an entity named The Hell’s Angels Ltd since 1982, when it was last sold for $27,000.
The motorcycle gang have listed the Alphington house with a $1.299m price tag, a figure substantially lower than the suburb’s $1.84m median house value, according to PropTrack.
The home, listed with Hudson Bond agent Domenic Arpa, features white-painted interiors, brick fireplaces, a retro stove in the kitchen, sun room and laundry.
The house that’s for sale has an old-school green-coloured oven and a dishwasher in a well fit out kitchen.

The neighbouring Hells Angels’ club house has been raided by police multiple times since it was established in 1975.
The club’s logo of a skull with wings was prominently displayed on the property’s gate on and off across the decades, though was removed earlier this year following the Victorian government’s ban on 13 motorcycle clubs publicly displaying their insignias under the Criminal Organisations Control Act.
Decorative ceilings, picture rails and fireplaces might not be the first things that come to mind when thinking of a house owned by the Hells Angels.

The house, on Heidelberg Rd, is set on a 727sq m block offering “endless potential”.
Most police raids at the club house have been related to liquor licensing although special operations group members seized an allegedly-stolen tiny home valued at $70,000 from the premises, in 2024.
Following the raids, police said they had also located a shotgun beneath the seized miniature residence.
In 2013, Mr Coelho retired from the Hells Angels after more than four decades as a bikie when he fell in love with a woman named Dee whom he later married.

At the time, Mr Coelho told the Herald Sun he had left the Hells Angels after being arrested in a 2012 raid on both the club house and his home which resulted in him being charged with minor offences over cannabis and an ornamental gun.
Mr Coelho was known as “Ball Bearing” because he had owned a chrome helmet in his younger days.
A colourful character who loved music and played the guitar, Mr Coelho once sung with country superstar Johnny Cash in a Melbourne hotel room, plus June Carter and Willie Nelson.
Mr Coelho was killed in a car accident near Kew in 2018.
