Ex-PwC chief executive and Blues president Luke Sayers and wife Cate are set to punt their historic Hawthorn East mansion onto the market with a $15.5m-$16.5m asking range.

Named Strathnaver, the circa-1880s seven-bedroom house – which will soon be listed for sale – features a three-storey tower with 360 degree views, a two-storey pool house alongside the pool, circular driveway and main bedroom with an ensuite, dressing rooms and balcony.

Mr Sayers joined the global powerhouse consultancy firm PwC in the 1990s and later became CEO, a position he held for eight years.

In 2020, he left PwC and established the investment and advisory business Sayers Group.

Mr Sayers has also been Carlton’s president since 2021.

Two years earlier, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his service to business, people with a disability and the community.

Marshall White group sales director John Bongiorno and co-listing agent, alongside agency director James Tostevin, said the Hawthorn East home was like a “complete oasis”.

Mr Bongiorno said the house exuded charm, luxury, character and sophistication.

“It’s beyond spectacular, I have seen some of the greatest homes in Melbourne and this is amongst them in terms of the fine renovation,” he said.

“And Cate has amazing taste and design skills.”

The Sayers have renovated the property.

Mr Bongiorno said the Sayers were selling up as their children had grown up and moved out, and it was time for them to relocate after almost two decades in the home.

They are facing one of Melbourne’s more balanced spring markets, but with a residence that impresses on all fronts and offered proximity to some of the city’s best private schools, the agent said he was expecting the home would sell well.

Records show the Sayers bought the house, which they have since renovated, for $4.84m in 2005.

Expressions of interest are set to close on December 2.
