Fred Schebesta’s chief of staff found a 1950s knockdown during Covid and is now “flipping” the house built in its place.

Michelle Hutchison has been chief of staff for Finder founder Fred Schebesta for years and loves her varied job at the global comparison website.

But she is also a secret property flipper and is auctioning her first full house project in St Ives on Saturday.

“My husband and I have done pool renos, new bathrooms and renovated room by room, but this is our first complete house, and we have learnt so much,” she says.

The newly built home at 25 Mudies Rd, St Ives has a $4m guide for its auction this Saturday.

The Hutchisons had bought the property, which originally featured this 1950s home, for $2,865,000 in May, 2022, records show.

The couple bought the “dearly loved” three-bedroom 1950s home on the 910sqm rear north-facing block at 25 Mudies Rd for $2,865,000 in May, 2022, according to property records.

The realestate.com.au listing says it “could be renovated, extended or perfect to build your dream home”.

The Hutchisons went for the third option, tweaking a Hamptons design to make it bigger.

The new home offers three living areas and is full of sun, thanks to the northerly aspect.

It’s in stark contrast to the living room of the previous home on the site.

They also included a media or cinema room, an oversized main bedroom with three built-in wardrobes and a full-width north-facing rear veranda.

The result is a five-bedroom, three-bathroom family home with a double garage, three living areas and full of sun, thanks to the northerly aspect, in a coveted St Ives pocket.

The new kitchen has everything desired by a modern family.

The old kitchen was literally straight out of the 1950s.

No.25 Mudies Rd is a new home with a premium gas and Caesarstone kitchen, butler’s pantry and outdoor entertaining terrace.

It is an easy stroll to St Ives North Public School, a short walk to shops and there is a nearby bus that goes directly to Gordon station and the CBD.

With all its space, and the front downstairs bedroom, it is already proving to be popular with multi-generational families.

Agent David Beveridge, of Ray White Upper North Shore, says the striking house is within an exclusive pocket, goes to auction on Saturday, March 28 and has a guide of $4m.
