A Highton family has been rewarded at the end of an extended search for an ideal chance to upsize in a blue-chip pocket of the riverside suburb.
The buyers secured a four-bedroom house at 54 Reigate Rd after the property was passed in at the auction on Saturday.
But not before the 777sq m property had been discounted ahead of the auction, with price hopes of $895,000 to $984,500 about $50,000 below the top of the initial range.

Hayeswinckle, Highton agent Michelle Winckle said the property had been sold for an undisclosed price close to the top of the range after the bidding was finished close to the vendors’ reserve.
The buyers were a family from the Highton area that were looking to upsize, Ms Winckle said.
“They had been looking for about four or five years to find the perfect home and it suited them,” she said.
The property has plenty of positives for the buyers, she said.
“Just the large backyard, fantastic location, good size home,” she said. “And it was affordable because it’s still got a little bit where you can add potential but you’re really just getting in to that prized blue-chip location in Highton and then you can modernise it a little bit further and make it your own style.”
The elevated position unlocks great views from the four-bedroom family home in a sought-after pocket close to schools and the Barwon River.
The contemporary interior of the two-storey house has been updated and offers dual ground floor living areas with a mid-century vibe.
There are stonework highlights in the main living and dining area, where a cosy fireplace is a focal point, while a spacious kitchen is with stone benchtops, a 900mm upright oven, dishwasher and walk-in pantry.
A separate second lounge provides direct access to a large deck, ideal for outdoor entertaining, and the back yard beyond.
Upstairs, a large terrace taking in the panorama over Geelong, provides another inviting spot to unwind or play host to family and friends.
