15 Corella St, Rocklea sold for $840,000.
A renovated Brisbane home raised 6m and on stilts has sold for $840,000 in just eight days.
A Brisbane family bought the flood-defying sanctuary, snapping up the three-bedroom, one-bathroom Rocklea home.
The home was inundated with flood water in Brisbane’s 2011 and 2022 catastrophic floods, but was raised and completely renovated in late 2022.
Ray White Annerley agent Brayden Sheehan marketed the property that now claims the title of one of the highest-elevated homes in one of Rocklea’s lowest points.

“To put that into perspective, during Brisbane’s infamous 2011 floods, the property would (now) have been looking down at 4.5m of rushing water while staying entirely high and dry,” Mr Sheehan said.
Mr Sheehan said the seller, who paid $370,000 for the property in 2021, was on a strict two-week ticking clock after buying her dream home on the Sunshine Coast.

Australia is obsessed with this home, so why hasn’t it sold?

“We launched a campaign which saw the home sell in just eight days after a fierce four-way bidding war,” Mr Sheehan said.
“The underbidder narrowly missed out at $825,000, but the winning buyers — a local family who had missed out on a previous property in Moorooka – were absolutely pumped to seal the deal.”

The sale was still more than Rocklea’s median house price, which is $831,000, up 11.9 per cent over 12 months, according to PropTrack,
“Look, buying a fully renovated house for under a million bucks less than 10km from the Brisbane CBD is the ultimate real estate cheat code,” said Mr Sheehan.
“People who look in Rocklea are serious buyers who understand the value here.
Personally? I believe in the flood mitigation, I believe in the suburb, and honestly, I’d be completely fine with the stairs for views like this.”

The seller had initially planned to hold onto the property, packing it with high-end luxuries like an Italian marble kitchen, a jetted spa bath, and premium upgrades.
Perched next to parkland with no neighbours on either side, the home offers views from every window, with “unreal sunsets, and even cheeky city glimpses from the top level”.
“Beyond the spectacular vantage point and the built-in cardio, the home is a commuter’s dream, located just 450m from the upgraded Cross-River Rocklea train station and the popular Sunday Cafe.
“For the new buyers, the daily trek up the front steps will be a small price to pay for a modern, marble-clad oasis that sits safely above the rest, proving that in the Brisbane property market, the only way is up.”
