Former Australian Test paceman James Pattinson is selling two Mordialloc townhouses amid his transition from bowling to building.

The fast bowler made his Test debut in late 2011 against New Zealand and appeared for the national side until 2020, including an Ashes appearance in 2019.

He also played a number of One Day Internationals before retiring due to injuries.

Since then he has transitioned into the building world and has just listed two townhouses in Melbourne’s bayside area.

Pattinson’s wife, Kayla, oversaw the homes’ interior design and finishes.

A three-bedroom residence at 45a McKay St has been listed with $800,000-$850,000 price hopes.

Spread over two floors, it is set deep on the block for privacy.

The kitchen is fitted with Fisher & Paykel appliances, stone benchtops, and white cabinetry, which then opens out to the living and dining areas.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has a wall of mirrored built-in wardrobes and an ensuite.

Other features include a separate laundry, timber floors, a shed and carport.

Buxton Glen Eira director Chris Hassall said it was like a little house and was priced beautifully.

“For what it offers in that price bracket, it’s on point … no common land, its own street front, big front yard, good parking,” Mr Hassall said.

“In my 20-plus years, I’ve never seen anything like it and it’s a great opportunity for someone.”

The other property Pattinson has built and listed is the red-brick, four-bedroom townhouse at 156b Chute St, which has a $1.35m-$1.4m price tag.

At the front of the residence is a large study and the main bedroom which has a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.

Towards the rear of the abode, past the laundry and powder room, is an open plan living, dining and kitchen zone fitted with Fisher & Paykel appliances, an induction oven, dishwasher, stone benchtops, butler’s pantry and a breakfast bar.

Upstairs, there are three expansive bedrooms, all with built-in wardrobes, and a shared bathroom.

Pattinson’s former home he sold earlier this year at 65 Ruskin St, Elwood.

Mr Hassall said this property would age gracefully.

“He used recycled red brick, the old reds they call them, downstairs which is timeless,” he said.

“They cost a fortune to buy them, clean and then have to lay them; so he’s put a bit into it

“Again, it just offers a lot for the price point.”

Pattinson and his wife also sold their former Elwood home at 65 Ruskin St for $3.47m in May after purchasing the block for $1.762m in October 2019.

They renovated and extended the original home in June 2021, with the goal of maintaining its Edwardian character, the ex-cricketer previously told the Herald Sun.
