Toula Cassen bought this harbourside apartment two years ago and she’s now sold it for double the price.
She’s bought the four-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment with double parking at 8/39 Sutherland Cres, Darling Point for $6.82m in November, 2023.
At the time, it was in a functional but dated condition, but she could see the 293sqm single-level unit with harbour views in the boutique block of 10, Glen Ascham, had potential.
After a $1m reno, she handed it over to her real estate agent son, Ben Cassen, who secured a $13.65m sale off-market.

The kitchen now has million-dollar good looks.

The Sotheby’s young gun couldn’t reveal the identity of the purchaser, but it’s understood to have been a downsizer from the same suburb who was blown away by the apartment’s new look.
Toula, who is the ex wife of Rob Cassen, who sold motorcycle parts business Cassens for $123m to Motorcycle Holdings in 2017 alongside his brother, John, obviously has a good design eye.

She’d ‘sold’ a Double Bay home, with a unique timber staircase, for $5m in 2019, to Delta Goodrem, but then the superstar changed her mind and bought an apartment instead.
For her Darling Point reno, she’s knocked down an internal wall to open the space up a bit and used quality designer finishes, such as timber parquetry floors and marble, in the fitout.
It obviously did the trick.
Other attractions, apart from the house-like size of the apartment are the views, are the complex’s facilities that include a heated mosaic-tiled pool, gym and sauna.
The master bedroom wasn’t signficantly altered, just new light fittings.
