28 Sunrise Rd, Palm Beach has a $16m-$17m price guide.

John and Frances Ingham of Ingham’s chicken fame are selling their redundant Palm Beach weekender for between $16m and $17m.

The couple paid $7.2m for the Sunrise Rd property in 2014 and obtained approval for a bold vision by architects BKH.

However, 11 years later they realise they are not doing justice to the second home and are letting it go.

Shane Clinton, of Forbes Global Properties, said the five-bedroom home at 28 Sunrise Rd is the best home on the road, has 180-degree panoramic views and easy street access.

“It sits on the promontory on a commanding 1000 sqm parcel of land capturing views from the Barrenjoey Lighthouse to The Central Coast,” he said.

There’s a mosaic-tiled infinity-edge pool, sun-drenched timber deck, integrated gas barbecue, and outdoor shower.

The tri-level home has a private home theatre, a Carrara marble kitchen and indoor to outdoor living zones making the most of the dramatic views.

As well as being part of a well-known Australian business family John Ingham is also known for his love of horse racing and raising money for world-leading medical research through the Ingham Institute.

In 2022 the inaugural The Ingham race at Royal Randwick was held replacing the Viliers race.

The Ingham now offers a $2m prize pool.

John’s late father Bob and late uncle Jack built up the poultry breeding business first founded in 1918 by their father Walter.

The brothers turned the business into the largest producer of chickens and turkeys in the country employing more than 8200 people and selling more than $1.5bn worth of poultry a year.

Clinton said there has been a swing back to Palm Beach weekenders after younger families sought out holiday homes in Byron Bay and the coastal communities northside to Broken Bay for a couple of years.

The Sunrise Rd property is for sale through expressions of interest.
