One of Australia’s most famous florists, Cherrie Miriklis, is selling her creative Kew house with $3.3m-$3.6m price hopes.

In 1989, Ms Miriklis founded Flowers Vasette which has since become an institution on Brunswick St, Fitzroy.

Nowadays, she also has bases at Chadstone shopping centre, within beauty giant MECCA’s flagship Bourke St store and a Port Melbourne studio.

Flowers Vasette provided the flowers for singer Tina Arena’s wedding to her now ex-husband and former manager Ralph Carr, and actor and model Olympia Valance’s nuptials to former Essendon player Tom Bellchambers.

Ms Miriklis has worked with the National Gallery of Victoria, Australian Open, Grand Prix, Spring Racing Carnival and Crown Casino.

Her company, which boasts more than 122,000 Instagram followers, is a floral supplier to luxury brands including Chanel, Hermes, Dior, Prada, Cartier, Tiffany & Co, Aje, Rolex and Paspaley.

The kitchen is fitted with a marble-topped island, Miele appliances including an induction cooktop, double oven, microwave and steam oven, and a butler’s pantry with a dishwasher.

Ms Miriklis calls this room “the green room”. It’s a retreat where she enjoys reading and meeting with people whom she has mentored in business, such as young florists.

Ms Miriklis said that she purchased the “beautiful” five-bedroom house at 68B Wellington St just after it was built, about two years ago.

But with her son heading overseas soon she is now planning to downsize.

Across three levels, the home showcases a lift, curved staircase, marble-fitted kitchen with Miele appliances and butler’s pantry, combined study and gallery, and a terrace.

The main bedroom features a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, while two of the upstairs bedrooms also have ensuites.

Hydronic heating, zoned cooling, European Oak parquetry, polished concrete floors, double glazing and solar power are among the abode’s features.

The lower level multipurpose entertainers’ room serves as a home cinema and games room alongside a triple garage.

Ms Miriklis has revamped the entire garden with her expert florist’s eye, installing a vegetable patch in the back yard.

“I’ve got gardenias, jasmine and garden roses,” she said.

“Also in the front we’ve got the clematis on the archway-style sleepers and that forms the entry to the main door with all the beautiful blooms and maples.”

Indoors, a tall potted Kentia palm takes advantage of the natural light streaming in from above the staircase.

Ms Miriklis’ treasured memories of the residence include hosting up to 40 relatives and friends for large Greek Easter celebrations.

“We did an incredible feast and opened up the alfresco area with the sliding door,” she added.

Jellis Craig’s Peter Vigano said families with teenage and adult children were among the buyers to have inspected the property.

He said the main bedroom meant parents could effectively enjoy living on one level while their offspring or in-laws resided on the other levels.

“But then there’s a lift to all floors as well and you’ve got ample bedroom accommodation on the first floor, the great games and rumpus room in the basement with the oversized garage and more storage in the wine cellar,” he said.

The house’s three levels contain a total 545sq m of floor space.

Ms Miriklis describes the garden as beautiful but low maintenance.

He added the garden looked “quite spectacular”.

“It’s well worth a visit just to have a look at Cherrie’s floral arrangements and the garden,” Mr Vigano said.

The house will be auctioned at 11am on February 28.
