The Cardigan property at 32 Remembrance Drive features sprawling gardens, a dam and a gazebo, all set across more than 6003sq m.
Driven by a cancer diagnosis and a refusal to enter aged care, this $2.8m Ballarat mansion was built to house two separate residences under a single roof.
The five-bedroom property at 32 Remembrance Drive has hit the market with $2.6m-$2.8m price guide and sits on more than 6003sq m
It includes two kitchens, three garages and multiple living zones. The design allows extended family to live independently while staying together.

The home spans more than 430sq m under roof. It also has vehicle accommodation suited to caravans, boats and lifestyle vehicles.
Ray White Ballarat agent Giovanni Piazza said the design effectively created two homes within one property.
“This is essentially two fully functional homes under one roof,” Mr Piazza said.
The home was created after Kim Tempany’s father was diagnosed with cancer forcing the family to rethink how they would support her parents without moving them into aged care.
The main living room is part of the central hub linking the home’s two separate living wings designed for multi-generational family living.
A dam sits at the centre of the acreage property, adding to the rural lifestyle appeal of the Cardigan home.
“There was no way dad wanted to go into care, but it was obvious both mum and dad were going to need support,” Mrs Tempany said.
“We thought, let’s buy some space and build something where we can live independently but together, one house but two homes joined together.
“It was the best thing we ever did.”
Working with Bryan Peterson Home Builders, the Aussie family designed the home as two residences.
They are connected by a central living hub. The layout allows privacy while keeping relatives close.
The home was designed as two separate residences joined by a central living hub so family members could live independently while staying close.
One side of the residence contains the primary living quarters. It includes a master suite, living areas, a full kitchen and internal access to a single garage.
The other wing functions almost as a second residence. It has additional bedrooms, another kitchen, separate living areas and access to a double garage.
The design meant Mrs Tempany’s parents could maintain independence. Family support was always close by.
Outside, established gardens surround the home.
Established gardens surround the property, creating a private setting across the more than 6003sq m block.
A dam sits at the centre of the grounds, adding to the rural lifestyle appeal.
The acreage proved especially valuable in 2020. The family spent extended time together there and celebrated major milestones.
They marked their daughter’s 21st birthday at the property.
Later, the grounds became the setting for her wedding photos.
Four grandchildren also spent countless hours playing across the lawns.
The sprawling gardens and dam became the backdrop for the Tempany family’s wedding photos.
When Mrs Tempany’s father died later that year, the home remained a place where the family could gather and support one another.
Now the Tempanys are preparing for their next chapter. Mrs Tempany’s mother is moving closer to them into an apartment complex in town.
“This home has supported our family through many stages of life,” Mrs Tempany said.
“We hope it offers the same sense of care, connection and warmth to the next family who calls it home.”
One of the home’s bathrooms features modern finishes as part of the custom-designed family residence.
Mr Piazza said the property was likely to appeal to buyers seeking genuine multi-generational living.
That included families wanting space for parents or adult children. It would also suit downsizers leaving larger rural holdings but still wanting land close to Ballarat.
