The Burton home at 9 Canterbury Place has been rebuilt after a devastating fire.
Just 18 months ago the home at this Burton address was nothing but a charred wreck after a devastating fire tore through it.
But like a phoenix, a new home has since risen from the ashes
Owner Martin Marriette was lucky to escape the blaze in December 2024, which he said was believed to be caused by an electrical fault in the ceiling and also destroyed his high-end Corvette and a motorbike.
He has since rebuilt the three-bedroom home at 9 Canterbury Place and is selling it after downsizing.

It’s modern throughout with three bedrooms and one bathroom.
Mr Marriette said processing and overcoming the frightening event, which left him with nothing but the clothes on his back, was “the greatest challenge I’ve had”.
But he said rebuilding the home and now selling it would hopefully be a positive end to that chapter of his life.
“The insurance company gave me the opportunity of being paid out or rebuilding the property,” he said.
“It’s a really unusual place to be, you get really mentally overwhelmed.
“Basically the house got rebuilt onto the same footings – it’s the same shape and similar.”

Mr Marriette was able to redesign parts of the floorplan to improve the home, which he planned to keep but later decided was a good opportunity to downsize.
“It was the perfect opportunity to end that chapter,” he said.
“It’s really rewarding to see the house look nice again.”
The house is on a 565sqm corner block and has three bedrooms, one bathroom, an open living area that flows into a covered outdoor entertainment space, as well as a double garage and double carport.
The owner said it was rewarding to see it look like a home again.
He was able to change its floorplan slightly in the rebuild.
The Bali hut was the only thing that survived the fire.
There is also a Bali hut in the backyard, which Mr Marriette said was saved from the blaze by firefighters who pushed it up against the fence in a desperate bid to stop the flames spreading to neighbouring properties.
“It was the only thing that survived,” he said.
Edge Realty principal Mike Lao, who is selling the property with Brendon Ly, said several people had showed keen interest in buying it within 24 hours of it hitting the market.
Best offers for the property close on July 28.
