For buyers looking for a pawfect place to call home, this one might just pass the sniff test.

House hunters are being told to bring their pooch along to Brisbane’s first-ever “puppy open home”.

The property at 73A Elliott Street, Hawthorne, will open on May 2 from 11am, offering a tail-wagging twist on the traditional open home, where house hunting meets hound approval.

Expect plenty of buyers, and their dogs, sniffing out the prime opportunity, with a coffee cart serving flat whites for humans and puppuccinos for their fur babies.

There’ll be water bowls out front, doggie treats on hand, and a steady flow of locals dropping by to take a look.

The home is owned by Samantha and Darren Pearce, who have been heavily involved with Cocker Spaniel Rescue QLD (CSRQ) since November 2024, where Mrs Pearce serves as secretary.

The couple also foster dogs.

“Dogs have always been an important part of both of our lives, so working with CSRQ means more than just volunteering,” Mrs Pearce said.

“It’s about giving back and helping animals who need it most.

“There’s something incredibly special about seeing a dog in need go from uncertainty to feeling safe, loved, happy and healthy again.

“Being part of that journey is a privilege and it’s why we both care so deeply about the work we do with CSRQ.”

Place Bulimba agent Shannon Harvey said she designed the campaign to reflect the owners’ story and their love of dogs, having originally sold them the property in 2010.

“Buyers see a lot of homes, and they can start to feel the same,” Ms Harvey said.

“This is something different.

“It gives people a reason to come through and spend time there.

“Wwe already know its completely pooch approved.”

On the day, Place’s Auction Patrol team will be on-site to keep things moving, handing out puppuccinos, topping up water bowls and stepping in to hold a leash while buyers inspect the home.

A pop-up from Paws on Oxford will offer treats and accessories, while Feed for Thought will provide samples of its vet-formulated, low-allergenic dog food.

The property will go under the hammer on May 23.
