A bright pink house with hidden treasure buried on the property has hit the market for less than $700,000, attracting huge buyer interest for its fairytale charm.
Just an hour from Brisbane's CBD, the iconic three bedroom, one bathroom Queenslander at 79 Patrick Street, Laidley is known to locals as ‘The Pink House' with a storied past ranging from ghosts to buried treasure.

Sales agent Dannina Penson from Elders Real Estate said the home’s reputation was attributed to more than just its bright pink facade – it was long associated with rumours it was haunted.
Ms Penson said local gossip that the house was haunted had been around a while, so she asked the previous owner of her experience.
“Maybe a month or two after she moved in, I said ‘Have you had anything happen? And she said ‘One night I was lying in bed and the bed moved to one side like someone was sitting on it.”

While the owner did not see anyone, Ms Penson said she angrily told it to go away and nothing happened to her like that again, or the now vendors, with the spirit seemingly moving on.
Likening the home to “a little gingerbread house or dollhouse”, Ms Penson said the vendors have spent considerable time and effort in bringing the garden back to life.
“The house is on quite a prominent corner block in town, on an intersection, and the previous owner was very private and an older lady, and she had that property so overgrown that you could hardly tell the house was pink,” she said.
“And then these owners are a young couple so they really got into it and just really toned back what was essentially already there and established it and in turn gave it lovely lawns because all the trees had sucked every life out of the grounds as well.”

Tucked behind a fence, the home’s cottage charm is accentuated by its front porch and French doors, and an additional smaller porch near a barbecue area.
Winding pathways meander through the lawns, and another rumour associated with the home, is that beneath one of footpaths is a lost diamond ring.
“If someone wants to dig up the footpath and find the diamond ring, then there could be one in there - so there's a little hidden treasure, literally, in there somewhere,” Ms Penson said.
