Olympic golfer Marcus Fraser and his interior designer wife Carlie are hoping the historic Beaumaris estate they transformed into a family home achieves an ace sale.

The couple have listed their circa-1890 property, named Pointside, with a $6.9m-$7.3m range.

Professional golfer Fraser, who represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Olympics, has several international tournament wins under his belt.

And Ms Fraser is creative director of Hygge Design which won a 2024 REA Group Excellence Award gong for sustainability.

It recognised Hygge’s Daylesford project The Village, a collection of townhouses featuring environmentally-conscious design and sustainably-sourced materials.

Ms Fraser said she had incorporated Hygge’s signature Scandinavian-inspired creativity, fused with Australian warmth, into the Beaumaris five-bedroom house’s renovation.

Set on 1689sq m, the abode at 17-19 Lang St was originally built as the maids’ quarters and stables of a now-demolished mansion named The Point constructed by wine merchant and politician Matthew Lang who later became Melbourne’s lord mayor.

The fully-tiled pool provides for plenty of summer fun.

Ms Fraser and her husband have lived at Pointside with their two teenage children and golden retriever dog for about a decade.

During their 2.5-year-long reno, the garage served as a makeshift kitchen for seven weeks while the actual kitchen was demolished and refitted with materials including American walnut timber and Brazilian quartzite, Fisher & Paykel appliances, a bar and butler’s pantry.

“I think it’s very timeless in terms of the natural materials that we’ve picked as you just can’t beat natural materials as they’re going to last a long time,” Ms Fraser said.

“And I’ve got a little servery window, which I really love, that opens up onto the garden.”

When the Frasers first saw the house, they fell in love with the amount of natural light which enters the home along with its floorplan.

The terrace has hosted several special events and mealtimes with family and friends.

She loves cooking for their relatives and friends who visit to enjoy the outdoor pool, terrace, gym pavilion and firepit that’s surrounded by greenery.

Her treasured memories include hosting Christmases with up to 40 guests sitting down at a long table in the dining and lounge rooms.

Original features such as restored Baltic pine flooring, 3.5m-high ceilings and fireplace mantles remain in the house, while the front garden’s water fountain formerly served as a water trough for the stables’ horses.

The main bedroom offers water views to Arthur’s Seat, dressing-room and ensuite with a dual shower and a vanity ensuite.

Blue-coloured tiles add a splash of colour in one of the four bathrooms.

The abode is close to the beach and zoned for both Beaumaris Secondary College and Mentone Girls’ Secondary College.

Having a home office and library means Ms Fraser can use Pointside as a showpiece to inspire Hygge Design’s clients.

“There’s a bit of colour in the home and I really, really love that,” Ms Fraser said.

The property was featured in the September 2025 edition of Home Beautiful magazine.

Ms Fraser said that Pointside had been a wonderful home but her family was now downsizing with plans to renovate their next residence.

Buxton’s Stefan Delyster said the historic estate had been thoughtfully reimagined by the owners to honour its original grandeur.

“This has resulted in a timeless expression of character, craftsmanship and architectural beauty,” Mr Delyster said.

Expressions of interest close at 3pm on March 12.
