An award-winning property with prize home vibes has been crowned Townsville’s most popular listing of the year.

The spectacular all-white house on a 2,338 sqm parcel at 23 Silver Water Pl, Jensen notched up 30,263 views on realestate.com.au.

Completed a year ago, the luxury modern coastal-style home first hit the market in January with a different agent and a $2.7m price tag.

It was re-listed with a $200,000 price cut this month by McDonough Property Townsville agents, Martin McDonough and Monique Petersen.

The home was made for entertaining

“This house is special,” Mr McDonough said.

“You just don’t see something like this out of the city, where you walk in and just get blown away by the high-end features all the way through.”

Built by John Munro, the home took out several accolades in HIA North Queensland People’s Choice Home Awards, including Best Luxury Home, Best Custom-Built Home Over $1m, and Design and Innovation Award.

“The owners are a retired couple who built this as their final home. They lived there for 12 months, but due to family matters are relocating down south.

“It is heartbreaking for them to leave,” Mr McDonough said.

It has won several building awards

PropTrack tallied views for all residential listings in the 12 months to October, with a prestigious 17ha estate in Adelaide in top spot across capital cities, with 73,548 clicks.

In Townsville, the second most-viewed home was 4 Howitson Dr, Balgal Beach (14,509 views), then 4 Gulliver St, Mundingburra (14,120), 36 Flowers St, Railway Estate (14,109), and 16 Wateredge Cove, Douglas (14,085).

Offers above $2,499,000 were sought for the Jensen frontrunner, which, if achieved, would set a new residential record for the suburb, Ms Petersen said.

PropTrack data shows house prices in Jensen were up 10.5 per cent over the past 12 months, to a median of $862,000.

The owners built it as their dream home

“We don’t have prize homes in Townsville, but if we did – this one is certainly a cut above the rest,” Ms Petersen said.

“Absolutely no expense has been spared on this build, so everything is just finished to perfection.

“We just need to find the right buyer who is prepared to pay the right amount.”

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home includes a media room and billiard room with a bar along with a dedicated study and office, while the kitchen has bespoke Moncrieff cabinetry, stone benchtops, and top-tier appliances plus a butler’s pantry.

An expansive covered al fresco zone with outdoor kitchen, fireplace and big-screen TV leads out to the pool, which is flanked by a stylish cabana.

REA economist Eleanor Creagh said the listings with the most views were often homes “people love to look at”, rather than ones they intended to buy.

“Real estate has become a national obsession, and scrolling through incredible properties is almost a hobby in its own right,” Ms Creagh said.

“Viral listings tend to be aspirational, with a wow factor or something unusual, whether that’s dramatic views, luxury price points, architectural design, big blocks, or a property that feels more like a resort than a home.”
