2 Surfside Ave, Avalon Beach goes to auction on July 14 with a $9.5m guide.

A landmark Avalon Beach oceanfront property held since 1960 by the pioneering founder of Busways goes to auction on July 14 with a guide of $9.5m.

The north-facing home is one of only four fronting the ocean and is in a tightly held cul-de-sac.

The six-bedroom, four-bathroom home with four-car garage and room for two more cars on the driveway at 2 Surfside Ave has 180-degree views across the full arc of Avalon Beach, level access from the road.

Busways founder Richard Rowe lived in the double-brick home from the time he built the property in 1973 until his death aged 100.

The property was owned by the late Richard Rowe, who was the founder of Busways.

It faces north …

.. and has incredible ocean views.

Jonothan Gosselin, of L.J. Hooker Avalon, says locals are inspecting the property knowing and valuing its private, sunny position.

No.2 Surfside Ave has two living zones, wraparound terraces, a self-contained studio and a Miele kitchen with open-plan living.

The surf, rockpool and village are just over 100m away.

It’s right on the oceanfront.

The home has six bedrooms.

It goes to auction on Tuesday, July 14.

The late Richard “Dick” Rowe founded Rowes Bus Service in 1942, aged 17, with a service between Rooty Hill and Plumpton and one five-seater bus.

He later changed the name to Busways and expanded the network across western and southwestern Sydney and today it is Australia’s largest family-owned and operated private bus company.
