This Portsea mansion has been put on the market by the Bardas family, which founded iconic Australian fashion brands Sportscraft, Sportsgirl and David Lawrence.
The wealthy Bardas dynasty behind some of Australia’s most famous fashion brands have listed a Mornington Peninsula mansion with a $19m-$19.75m range.
Named Cambo, the five-bedroom Portsea pad offers spectacular bay and Melbourne CBD views, a lift, cellar, bar, coloured resin benches and landscaped gardens.
RT Edgar’s Ilze Moran declined to comment on the owners but public records show the home is held in a company name, which is in turn directed by one of David and Sandra Bardas’ grown-up children.

Mr Bardas died in 2023 while his wife, the daughter of billionaire businessman Victor Smorgon, passed away in 2007.
Mr Bardas’ grandfather, Russian immigrant Wolf Bardas, established a Melbourne tailoring business in 1914.
It later grew into an empire including the Sportscraft, Sportsgirl and David Lawrence fashion chains.
In the 1990s, Mr Bardas’ net worth was estimated to be $90m.
However, the Bardas family no longer own the fashion brands, which have all been sold to other companies.
Ms Moran said the Portsea abode was built roughly two decades ago.

“It’s a creative home with beautiful art pieces that reflect the taste of the owners, they are embracing the beauty of both inside the house and outside,” she said.
Seagull sculptures, model ships and paintings are displayed throughout the house but will not be sold with the abode.
Ms Moran said the house was designed for multi-generational living with three separate living areas.
“There’s a beautiful little outdoor courtyard area, it’s got crazy paving in it and it’s almost like a meditative area where the kids can go straight from their playroom,” she added.
“The property is totally safe and fully fenced.”

Artworks add a splash of colour to the residence.
Ms Moran is also managing the sales campaign for a house at 11 Paringa Rd, Portsea, listed with $9.5m-$10m price hopes.
The owners commissioned prominent designer Stephen Akehurst to design the home.
Just 300m from the beach, it has 360 degree views with a rear balcony taking in the Otways and Cape Schanck.
Features such as the pool, lift, living and dining space with open fireplace and formal lounge, three bathrooms and two powder rooms have attracted interest from buyers including Peninsula locals, Melburnians and expatriates returning to Australia.
The downstairs living area with a kitchenette opens to a sheltered deck and partially-enclosed outdoor room.
Ms Moran said the house did not reflect Akehurst’s typical Hamptons’ style but showcased his signature touches such as wide doors and well-proportioned rooms.

The property, surrounded by greenery, offers privacy and tranquillity.
And another impressive coastal property has been put on the market by the family of Australian technology entrepreneur, George Kepper.
The 72.84ha landholding near Metung features a five-bedroom homestead, manager’s cottage, machinery shed, workshop and cattle yards.
Known as Karra Downs, it is for sale with a $7m-$7.7m range.
The address offers 1.8km of frontage to Bancroft Bay and Boxes Creek accessible by a private jetty.
This 72.84ha property at 160 Nungurner Jetty Rd, Nungurner, is also for sale.
The 160 Nungurner Jetty Rd, Nungurner, listing has been in the Kepper family since 1985.
Mr Kepper sold his networking equipment company Datacraft for $300m, in 1997.
He later expanded into fields such as investment, property, and aircraft management and chartering.
Fittingly, Karra Downs occupies a site selected to serve as lodgings for Royal Australian Air Force radio operators during World War II.

Christie’s International’s Sean Cussell described Karra Downs as a turnkey trophy property with rich historical significance.
The land parcel sits across five individual titles.
Expressions of interest in Karra Downs close at 3pm on February 6, while expressions of interest for both Cambo and 11 Paringa Rd close at 12pm on February 3.
