15 Ernest St Balgowlah Heights sold for $5.05m, $250k over its guide, with Aussie expats from Dubai fighting over it.

A new townhouse in Balgowlah Heights has sold for $250,000 over its guide and almost a week before its expressions of interest closing date.

Anthony Walls, of Max Walls International, said it was a big price for a house without a view but he had several buyers interested including expats from the Middle East anxious to come home.

“I have been talking to one expat in Dubai whose wife has fled to Paris with one child while he was stuck in Dubai with another child watching missiles flying past,” he said.

“They just want to come home,” he added.

The Australian national was chasing the Ernest St townhouse, which had a guide of $4.8m but was pipped at the post by a couple from the southern highlands keen to return to Sydney.

“We are seeing many expats wanting to get out of the Middle East,” Anthony said.

“They want a safe base in Australia, and they are armed to the teeth with a stronger currency,” he added.
