Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty’s Antoinette Nido declined to comment on the four-bedroom home’s owner but records show it is owned by a Megan Bail who also holds the ABN for Megan Dwyer & Co.
Ms Nido described the circa-1915 Edwardian abode’s character as a “quirky mix of heritage and contemporary”.
About 25 years ago, noted Melbourne-based architect John Wardle oversaw a significant renovation of the house under a previous owner.
Swathes of marble as well as Miele and Smeg appliances feature in the kitchen.

John Wardle Architects has won several awards including for projects such as the Victorian Heart Hospital in Clayton, the Ian Potter Southbank Centre, the Melbourne School of Design in Parkville, RMIT University’s Bundoora biosciences building, the Queensland Brain Institute and several private homes.
Ms Nido said the South Yarra home’s current owners had extended the kitchen, installed the five-car basement garage and added the upstairs bedrooms.
“It’s a beautiful property which is unique and very secluded,” she added,
“It’s very unusual to find a home of this size, more than 1070sq m, so close to Como Park.”
The property features European oak, Italian marble, mosaics and a mirrored entryway with a timber pivot door.
The five-car garage includes a home gym and storage space.
The house is close to the Yarra River, Toorak Village and parks.
Melbourne CBD views can be enjoyed from a terrace.
One living area offers an open fireplace and French doors that open to a veranda and terrace looking out to the front garden and Melbourne’s CBD.
A second living room with timber screening leads to the heated, self-cleaning outdoor pool.
The kitchen is fitted with Miele and Smeg appliances and a butler’s pantry, while the main bedroom suite opens straight to the pool.
The suite has a Murano glass chandelier, an ensuite is detailed in onyx and stone, a walk-in wardrobe and a study.
There are four bathrooms, including three bedrooms with ensuites, in the house.
The cellar is ideal for wine connoisseurs wanting to showcase their collection.
A wine cellar, mudroom entry and proximity to schools, parks and cafes are among the other highlights.
“It’s a beautiful turnkey home for a family,” Ms Nido said.
She added that the house was in a street covered by a single-dwelling covenant which means it cannot be extensively developed.
Expressions of interest close at 1pm on March 30.
