Australia’s test cricket stars own some remarkable properties.
As some of the country’s wealthiest sporting stars, Australia’s test cricketers are no strangers to the world of real estate.
Like a good test inning, these players have entered the property market armed with patience and endurance – as well as the multiple millions that come from some of their contracts.
From Sydney mansions to Adelaide retreats, take a look at some of the incredible properties that have been owned by Australia’s 2025-26 Ashes squad.
STEVE SMITH

Known for his big scores at the crease, Australia’s captain for the opening test has also scored big on the property market.
Smith has been active in the real estate game, often investing in older Sydney homes which he has then renovated.
He and wife Dani Willis’ biggest result was in July 2022, when they sold a mansion in Sydney’s Vaucluse for $12.38m.

The property sold for $12.38m.
They purchased the property in 2020 for $6.6m, redesigning the home over the course of the next two years.
The couple followed the same blueprint in 2024, when they sold their property in beachside suburb Bronte, in Sydney’s east, for $6.75m.
They bought it for $3.505m in August 2019 and spent an estimated $495,000 renovating the four-bedroom home.

Smith has been particularly active in the Balmain area in Sydney’s Inner West.
Over the years he has purchased a $1.345m investment townhouse in Balmain, a $2m property in Balmain East and a $1.95m cottage purchased in Birchgrove.
He is also the owner of a Coogee penthouse bought for $1.75m in 2011, a two-bed Marrickville unit bought for $635,000 off the plan in 2013 and a three-bed Toowoomba home that cost $145,000 in 2015.

The couple also have a residence in New York.
Smith and Willis have also been the owners of an apartment in New York City since 2022.
Totalling the reported prices of known purchases, Smith has spent $17.925m on real estate.

MITCHELL STARC

Mitchell Starc provided an Ashes moment for the ages back in the 2021-22 series, when he bowled out England’s Rory Burns with the first delivery of the series.
In 2024, Starc was the recipient of a then-record Indian Premier League contract, with the Kolkata Knight Riders paying him $4.43m a year.
He and cricketer wife Alyssa Healy now have a $24m luxury estate in Sydney’s northern beaches.

The huge home comes with equestrian facilities, an American-style barn, a pool, a tennis court and garaging for 13 cars.
The cricketing power couple previously lived in Jennifer Hawkins’ old North Curl Curl home, which they paid $5.235m for in 2016.

Their estate was purchased in 2024.
They sold the property in February 2024 for what is understood to be a guide of $8.5m.
Starc offloaded a five-bedroom Mosman home for $5.95m in 2016. He had paid $4.455m in 2014.
There is also a reported collection of five homes on Sydney’s northern beaches belonging to Starc, totalling around $10m in value.

TRAVIS HEAD

South Aussie batsman Travis Head will be hoping to recapture his form from the 2021-22 Ashes series this summer, when he scored 152 runs off 148 balls in the first test at The Gabba.
Head and wife Jessica Davies purchased an estate in Adelaide’s south, for $3.05m in 2020.

Head also owned a property in Tennyson, which he sold in 2022 after four years.
The 1000 sqm house sits on a sprawling 7000 sqm block, and features views to the ocean, the Adelaide CBD and along the rolling plains of Brown Hill Creek.
Head bought a seaside retreat in Adelaide’s Tennyson in 2018, later selling it for $1.85m in 2022.
He also owns a property in Kidman Park, in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

MARNUS LABUSCHAGNE

One of Marnus Labuschagne’s standout moments in the test whites came in Adelaide during the 2021-22 Ashes, when he dug in for a gritty 103 runs off 305 balls to produce his first Ashes century.
The South Africa-born batsman calls Queensland home, owning several homes in the Sunshine State.
Property records indicated his first purchase came in 2017, when he and wife Rebekah bought a $585,000 property in Brisbane’s Wellington Point.
Labuschagne turned a $460,000 profit on this property in Brisbane.
Last year, he and wife Rebekah purchased this home.
They then purchased a $915,000 property in Ormiston two years later, which sold in 2021 for $1.375m, records showed.
They added a $3.3m Cleveland home to their portfolio in 2021, before picking up another $3.3m property in on the Sunshine Coast – just a short walk from the beach – in 2024.

NATHAN LYON

Veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon will enter his seventh Ashes series this summer.
Lyon made his latest property play in 2020, when he purchased a $3.8m five-bedroom home in Sydney’s north shore with wife Emma McCarthy.

Lyon sold his Port Hacking, NSW property in 2020.
He made a significant loss on the home which he owned with ex-partner Mel Waring.
He previously owned a property in Port Hacking, in Sydney’s south, with ex-partner Mel Waring.
The property was sold in 2020 for $3.615m, with Lyon reported to have made a loss of around $200,000 on the home.

ALEX CAREY

Wicket keeper Alex Carey’s former home was one of the most popular properties in the country when it was listed in December 2024.
The home in Netherby, South Australia was listed for auction and became Australia’s most viewed home on realestate.com.au for that weekend.
Carey’s former Netherby home had the nation’s eyes when it went to auction.
The home sold for $2.75m.
It sold at auction for $2.75m in front of a crowd of 150 onlookers.
According to the property’s selling agent, Carey took a break from pre-game training to congratulate the buyers.

USMAN KHAWAJA

Batsman Usman Khawaja called his back-to-back centuries in the fourth test of the 2021-22 Ashes “the best individual cricketing moment” of his life in an interview with ESPN.
He has had some great moments on the property market too, making a couple of savvy investments.
Khawaja sold his property in Brisbane’s Holland Park West in 2021.
He sold the home for a $201,000 profit.
Khawaja and wife Rachel picked up a home in Brisbane’s Holland Park West for $2.75m.
After five years, they sold it for $2.96m in 2021, seeking out a move to Sunshine Coast.
Khawaja also sold an investment property in February 2017 for $960,000.
He purchased the home in Windsor, Brisbane, in 2012, after relocating from Sydney.

PAT CUMMINS

While Pat Cummins will miss Australia’s first Ashes test due to injury, he is believed to be eyeing a return for Australia’s second test in Brisbane, starting on December 5.
According to news.com.au, Cummins earns around $10m a year, including $3m from his Cricket Australia contract and $3.7m from his Indian Premier League contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad, along with numerous endorsements.
He has used these earnings to make some big property moves in his home state of NSW.

He most recently splashed $16m on a two-storey, 1888-built home in Bronte, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
The five-bedroom home on a 730 sqm block was bought off-market in November last year, with the sale only settling recently.
The pace bowler has a passion for heritage homes, having paid $9.5m for Figtree House, a revived Victorian manor in Bronte, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The Aussie captain more than doubled his money on the property.
Prior to this he lived in a three-bedroom unit in Clovelly, just blocks from the beach, which he paid $1.36m for in 2013.
That apartment sold at auction for $3.7m in 2021, a figure $600,000 above the guide.
He also owns a 1930s home in Moss Vale, in NSW’s Southern Highlands, which he purchased for $905,000.

JOSH HAZLEWOOD

Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will also be on the sidelines for the Perth test, having been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
He will be resting up at his four-bedroom home in Sydney’s lower north shore.
Hazlewood paid $3.8m in 2016 for the two-level home which includes a swimming pool.
