Ray White Ascot agent Nick Roche, who sold it to a local buyer who is upsizing, described the property as a “rare Brisbane treasure”.

“It’s a very spectacular house and there’s plenty to love about it, it’s one of the most remarkable homes not only in Ascot, but in all of Brisbane” Mr Roche said.

Mrs McKie said when she started searching for a new home she was after something with “real character”.

“We wanted established gardens, and a lifestyle property that wasn’t necessarily a Queenslander,” Mrs McKie said.

“This property is unique with exceptional street appeal and delivers everything we were looking for and more.”

Mrs McKie said now their two children had grown up and left home, she was spending more time at their Sunshine Coast beach property.

“The time has come to pass this remarkable residence on,” she said.

“The beauty of this home is its versatility. The property has suited us when our children were very young right through to their teens and early twenties.

“One of my favourite features I have enjoyed is complete privacy, and the ease of one-level living with the private master suite and all the entertaining areas on the ground floor.

“The wellness potential is incredible too – there’s room for a yoga studio, art studio space, gym, or home office.”
