As seen on TV: why this dream home is sparking conversations about affordability

One of Townsville’s most unique homes is going up for sale, two years after its time in the spotlight on Aussie television.

The four-bedroom, two-bathroom property at 3 Bray Ct, Bushland Beach, was featured in Dream Homes Australia on Channel 9 in 2024.

3 Bray Ct, Bushland Beach, is up for sale with Ray White Townsville.

The two-storey home was built in 2021 and featured on Channel 9’s Dream Homes Australia in 2024.

Built in 2021 with Troppo Architects, the two-storey home was made to take full advantage of the sprawling views on the elevated land.

Ray White Townsville is managing the sale, with agent Allison Gough saying the vendors were very reluctant to part with the home.

“It’s a very quiet alternative to Oceanview within Townsville’s CBD,” she said. “It’s a home that they love, and they poured a lot into it; they designed it for their family in a really unique position.”

The property has a wide view of the Townsville scenery and the nearby ocean.

Troppo Architects designed the home to take full advantage of its 1,808 sqm of land.

The property sports a whopping 1,808 sqm of space, giving residents a chance to see all the way out to the ocean nearby.

The upper level contains a statement timber entry and the home’s four bedrooms, leaving the downstairs area dedicated to open living and dining options for the family to enjoy.

The pavilion reaches around 4.5m in height, leading into the kitchen: which features chestnut timber recycled from a NSW butter factory, active in the 1910s.

Offers of $1.795m are being sought for the uniquely-designed house.

Ms Gough said potential buyers were considering how much more that money could get you in Townsville when compared to homes across Greater Brisbane.

Moving outside will take you to the entertaining terrace, where you can get a full view of Townsville from the nearby magnesium pool.

Ray White Townsville is currently seeking $1.795m for the property. Ms Gough said the campaign had already seen a range of potential upgraders within Townsville, along with interested parties from further south in Brisbane.

“They certainly think it’s priced well,” she said. “They’re making a lot of comparisons about what $1.8m would buy them in other locations down south.”
