Premiership Demon Christian Salem is kicking off the 2026 footy season on the hunt for a new home, after settling the sale of his old Brighton East digs in the past few weeks.

Salem’s twelfth season with the Melbourne Football Club opens this Sunday against St Kilda, which would be his 200th game of AFL football.

The 2021 Premiership winner also collected the Dick Taylor Memorial Trophy last season.

In the final days of 2025 he finalised the sale of his 179 Dendy St, Brighton East, house for $2.175m to a family from the local area.

It is understood the sale was only settled in the past few weeks.

Kay & Burton Bayside selling agent Matthew Pillios said he did not believe the star footballer had purchased his next home yet, and would still be looking for his next address.

However, the agent noted he felt Salem was a solid chance for the Brownlow Medal in 2026, and had appeared to be in incredible condition during their most recent meetings.

The Brighton East home has open-plan living spaces that connect the kitchen to an outdoor entertainment zone.

Multiple areas to relax and share time with family and friends give the low-maintenance home plenty of scope for get togethers.

“The Salem’s are a great family, and it was a privilege to work for them,” Mr Pillios said.

It’s expected the footballer will look to stay in the Bayside area.

The agent added that the family who bought the four-bedroom home had loved the location, close to the golf course and many of the most desirable amenities of Bentleigh East.

Features of the low-maintenance, corner block include multiple living areas, a study, open-plan kitchen and a private outdoor space for entertaining in fine weather.
