An international buyer snapped up a spectacular riverfront mansion without ever setting foot inside after the asking price was slashed by $3m.

The Broadbeach Waters trophy home sold for $8.7m, having been on the market with several agents since last year, even landing on the wish list of Star Wars actor Temuera Morrison.

Morrison, who played Boba Fett in The Mandalorian, loved the property which had served as a set for his 2023 film, Sons of Summer, but baulked at the $9-10m price tag at the time.

The four-level home at 20 Lakeland Key hit the market again in July with Zed Real Estate, advertised with an even heftier list price of $11.8m.

Agents Robert Curcio and Marcelo Martins secured the sale.

Zed Real Estate principal Zed Nasheet said the Aussie-born “international buyer” collected blue-chip real estate around the world and was attracted by the “refined luxury” of the Broadbeach Waters statement home.

“We got the deal done without the buyer ever inspecting the home,” Mr Nasheet said.

“The good news for the Gold Coast is, the luxury space is still high in demand.”

He said the replacement cost for a build of such a high standard would be $8m.

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home has a lift connecting all levels, a huge master bedroom retreat and home cinema with starry sky feature, walk-in wine cellar and games room, and a waterfront pool and pontoon.

Features of the lavish rooftop lounge with 360 degree views include a full outdoor kitchen and bar, king-sized wall bed, nine-seat jacuzzi, and stone bar tables.

Damian and Jacqui Waters built the home on a 604 sqm with 32m of waterfrontage in 2013.

“We wanted to create something timeless that offered quality and size, and really capitalised on its location,” Mr Waters said when it was listed for auction with a different agent last year.

The sale came within days of the neighbouring mansion at 22 Lakeland Key also changing hands, for $7.6m.

John Reid Real Estate sold the brutalist-style five-bedroom, five-bathroom property on a 587 sqm lot, which was owned by Burleigh Heads car dealers, Lachlan and Fiona Cox.
