More than $12 million in property was sold at just one auction event over the weekend: including a home now worth $6.15m, an AFL star’s investment property, and a house with all of its doors and windows completely gone.
Ray White Collective’s latest auction event took place on Saturday morning, March 14, with 24 Brisbane homes up for sale.
With a clearance rate on the day of 70 per cent, the event earned a stunning $12.708m in sales – with nearly half of that from just one property.
March 14th’s Ray White Collective auction event saw more than $12 million sold on the day, with $10m of that from just three properties.
The home at 38 Moreton St, New Farm, sold for nearly half of the event’s total earnings.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom home at 38 Moreton St, New Farm, ended up earning the highest sale price on the day at a jaw-dropping $6.15m.
The home known as ‘Garnock’ is one of four properties designed for famous Queensland contractor Charles Willcocks along Moreton St.
Built in the 1890s, the homes were designed by architect Claude William Chambers, and are now listed as heritage properties.
After an award-winning renovation in 2012 by Vokes and Peters, the home went to auction with four registered bidders: all of whom were active throughout the race.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom property was one of four heritage homes designed more than a century ago, and had four registered bidders.
The property sold for $6.15 million: a number which unfortunately does not include a four.
But while $6.15m may get you a heritage home, a home can still go for millions if it doesn’t even have doors or windows at all.
The one-bedroom home at 28 Parry St, Bulimba, also saw four registered bidders, but only two were active to buy the derelict house.
The former Queenslander sits across two lots, and has development approval for three luxury townhouses that use the existing structure of the building.
The half-built house at 28 Parry St, Bulimba is absent of any doors and windows, but has development approval for three luxury townhouses across two lots.
Two registered bidders fought over the property for its land and development potential, with the home selling for $2.3m.
Ray White Bulimba agent Brandon Wortley said the winner would need to keep the facade and roof line if they wanted to develop, but the land and location made the prospect tempting for several buyers.
“It was a fun auction – there’s so much mystique about it,” he said. “It was on the market for 17 days. I was doing some site visits and had to get the work boots on!”
With two bidders going head to head for the partially-made house, the property sold under the hammer for an impressive $2.3m.
Former AFL player Simon Black sold his old home at 15 Jenolan Ave, Hawthorne, at the event.
The home had become an investment property, selling for $2.125m after a fight between two bidders.
Meanwhile, the former home of ex-Brisbane Lions player Simon Black sold to a local buyer, after a bidding war between its two registered bidders.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home had been turned into an investment property by the assistant coach, featuring an in-ground swimming pool and a modern, open-plan living design.
The home went under the hammer at $2.125m, making for more than $10 million across just the three properties.
