207 Dewar Tce, Corinda: a hundred year-old house well-loved by the community, now up for sale after a renovation rediscovered its hidden charm.
An iconic Brisbane house with more than an acre of space and a century of history is up for sale, after recently restoring one of its oldest and most beautiful features.
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom home at 207 Dewar Tce sits by the Brisbane River in Corinda, known by locals for its massive fig tree.
The latest owners discovered an original double-sided brick fireplace hiding within the walls, which they restored to its old glory during their renovation.
The 4,806 sqm estate was bought by a couple in 2019, who had wanted to buy it ever since they first tried to get it back in 2003.
Current owners Therese and Scott Reid fell in love with ‘Wyuna’ at first sight, and tried to buy it twice: once in 2003 and successfully in 2019.
“When we tell people where we live, they instantly know the property because of the tree,” Ms Reid said. “It stayed with us for years. We’d drive past it, talk about it and compare other homes to it. There was just something about Wyuna that stuck with us.”
Locals know the property for its massive fig tree out the front, though the home’s residents would spend more time by the balcony overlooking the Brisbane River.
The property’s size was perfect for the owners to raise their three sons, with their renovation work turning the house into a modern family home.
The couple conducted a massive renovation on the home while raising their three sons there, modernising the Queenslander for a family lifestyle.
During this, the couple discovered an original double-sided brick fireplace: part of the original home that had been concealed by walls during a previous renovation.
“We took the risk and pulled everything off to see what was underneath,” Ms Reid said. “We loved the character of the old brick, so we kept it exactly as it was.”
With the vendors downsizing, the home is up for sale with Place New Farm, who are seeking offers beginning at $6.75m.
With the home sporting 4,806 sqm of land, several entertaining spaces and a large pool, the owners decided to downsize to give the home to a larger family.
Wyuna is now being sold with Place New Farm, seeking offers from $6.75m and above.
Co-agent Ann-Karyn Fraser said the home was seeing high levels of attention not just for its quality, but for its identity within the suburb.
“This is the type of home people know before they ever step inside,” she said. “It’s been part of the streetscape and local identity for generations.”
