An Unley Park home has been an incredible place to raise a family, and now you have the opportunity to do just that as vendors Sarah Freeman and Frank Kittel say goodbye to the home Frank has owned for the past 33 years.
Mr Kittel bought the property at 25 Thornber St in 1992, attracted by its address and potential for a grand transformation, Ms Freeman says.
“We’ve done an enormous amount to it since then, but really, it’s on a nice size block of land in a fantastic part of Adelaide,” she says.

“Heywood Park is just down the end of the street. Unley Rd is at one end and it’s a 1.5km walk to King William Rd.
“Our kids went to Scotch (College), so it’s very conveniently located to not just that but a number of other schools, and it’s a nice suburban suburb so close to the city.
“It was quite different when we bought it. It had the original four front bedrooms and an extended kitchen and living area, a carport to the side and a swimming pool in the front garden.
“We gave it a fairly major overhaul in 2003, moving the swimming pool around the back, digging the cellar, building the studio and doing a full renovation right through, just retaining the front four rooms essentially.”
The home now offers five bedrooms, a living room with a bay window; a study, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area; an upstairs studio and living room, a cellar, and an outdoor entertaining pavilion with a pizza oven overlooking a sparkling inground pool.
“We have five children – Frank had two and then we had three more and it’s been great for us,” Ms Freeman says.
“It has been fantastic for entertaining, with us hosting 21sts, 18ths and Christmases here.

“Our daughter’s third birthday was the year that we had just moved back in after we’d renovated and we decided to throw a big combined birthday, Christmas and house-warming party.
“We had ponies and face painting and we went all out.
“I think there was probably 150 people out in the back area, it was amazing. We’ve had lots of fun times here.”
As well as being beautiful, the home is also extremely functional, Ms Freeman says, and comes with a 15kw solar system and a 13.5kw battery to keep energy costs down.
With her children either having moved out or spending less time at home, she says it’s time to downsize and let someone else enjoy it.
“There’s a lot of us in the home, so it’s understandably sad to say goodbye to it, but I really hope that somebody will love it as much as we have,” Ms Freeman says.
Best offers for the home close at noon on September 2.
