The late TV presenter Brian Henderson was best known for fronting Channel Nine News for 46 years.

The one-time home of late newsreader legend Brian Henderson, and his wife Mardi, has come to market in leafy Middle Cove.

Back in 2021, the pioneering presenter’s widow sold the landmark five-bedroom property for $11.5m to Microsoft Australia and New Zealand president, Jane Livesey, and her husband, former PwC consulting partner Neil Livesey.

Now the refurbished five-bedroom modern mansion is listed with Michael Coombs and Peter Kakos of Atlas Lower North Shore with a price guide of $14.5m to $15.95m set for it’s upcoming auction.

The Hendersons had bought the 1797sq m property with views over the valley to Fig Tree Cove in 1994 for $850,000.

They then commissioned acclaimed architect Mike Macauley to create their dream home among the trees.

Surrounded by iconic designer homes, 13 The Quarterdeck has previously featured as a stop on The Middle Cove Walk, a tour organised by the Australian Architecture Association.

Since their custodianship, the Liveseys have sympathetically renovated the contemporary home to 21st century expectations with bespoke designer additions throughout.

“It’s a very unique design and the renovation is just sensational. The owners have been able to create a very luxurious lifestyle; the quality of the design and the beautiful setting has attracted so many interested buyers already,” Kakos said.

The Hendersons had bought the 1797sq m property for $850,000 in 1994 and commissioned the incredible residence.

“That magnificent water feature at the entrance is great. You know you’re somewhere pretty special as soon as you walk in.”
