14 Haylock St, Wynnum attracted plenty of interest from house hunters wanting to get into the property market.

A trashed one-bedroom house in Brisbane’s bayside is under offer for more than $750,000, despite having holes in the ceiling, missing walls and a destroyed bathroom.

A massive lack of supply in the sunshine state is seeing huge demand for even the worst houses with buyers eager to pay a premium to get into the market.

Century 21 – Adams & Costello agent Nathalie Pallandre marketed the house at 14 Haylock St, Wynnum at offers over $799,000 and said while not liveable, it had attracted plenty of interest, particularly from first home buyers.

“Obviously the house is in pretty poor shape but there are some good bones,” Ms Pallandre said.

“The house was rebuilt in 2019 and has a brand new steel frame, new roof, new stumps and new wiring.

“Although it looks untoward, it’s largely cosmetic.”

The home is dwarfed by neighbours.

Ms Pallandre confirmed the property was under offer, with more than 25 groups through the first open home.

“There is very little stock on the market so this is another creative option for people to have a look at,” she said.

“A lot of people wanted to take the home away and start again so are looking at it as a land option.

“Land in the area is probably a minimum $750,000.”

“This house is in a very well-regarded street on a hill on the border of Wynnum and Manly,” Ms Pallandre said.

“It’s 100m to Wynnum Esplanade and the bayside community.”
