TASMANIA’S leading residential builder is stepping in to help out home buyers with the Wilson Homes $20,000 Home Buyers Grant.

Following the state government’s decision to wind back the First Home Owners Grant from $30,000 to $10,000, Wilson Homes has taken the initiative to assist Tasmanian home buyers with two substantial offers in a grant alongside its discount offer that is worth tens of thousands.

Wilson Homes chief executive Tim Ribbons said they recognise the challenges that people face, such as cost-of-living pressures and the ability to secure finance.

We hope this offer will allow new home buyers to build a home,” he said.

“We hear stories almost daily from customers who have to cancel their build because they now can’t secure finance.

“Our business is currently experiencing a significant cancellation rate, it’s really tough out there.”

“The $20,000 reduction in the state government’s grant had a noticeable impact on sales and customer confidence.”

Since April, Wilson Homes has offered an upfront discount of up to $30,000 for customers. This can be accessed in addition to the new $20,000 grant.

For customers eligible for the government’s $10,000 First Home Owners Grant, they could be up to $60,000 better off.

“Since the launch of the program in July, we have already had a 20 per cent increase in quotes and a healthy number of deposits,” Mr Ribbons said.

Future home buyers have the opportunity to inspect Wilson Homes’ two new display homes at Rokeby on Hobart’s Eastern Shore.

The official launch on August 17 — a family fun day with guest visits from the Hurricanes and fun activities for children — was very well attended with over 600 people visiting the properties.

Mr Ribbons said while there are many challenges for people wanting to enter the property market, not just first-time buyers or builders, there is positivity, too.

“Existing homeowners who want to build their dream home are seeking out our premium products like our acreage range,” he said.

“Since the launch of the Sanford 47 in November last year, we have already sold 30 homes which range in price from $436,820 to $730,800.”

The $20,000 grant offer and the $30,000 discount offer will end September 30. Contact Wilson Homes for details.
