T2 co-founder Maryanne Shearer has listed her waterfront Middle Park home for sale.

T2’s co-founder Maryanne Shearer has listed her waterfront Middle Park home for sale in a move that could smash the suburb’s residential price record.

The Australian tea company has more than 1000 employees across its 70 retail outlets globally after it was founded in 1996 by Shearer and Jan O’Connor, before the pair sold to Unilever for $60m in 2013.

Ms Shearer was also the former director of European restaurant chain Neds Bake alongside Ned Radjocic.

She is now offloading her four-bedroom bayside abode at 297 Beaconsfield Pde with a $13m-$14m price tag, which could overtake a benchmark set just two weeks ago.

Only a few doors down, the five-bedroom house at 253 Beaconsfield Pde was sold for more than $13m on October 2.

Jellis Craig Port Phillip partner Max Mercuri said Shearer had extended and added an upstairs area to the 1920s Arts and Crafts-style home.

“It’s got a really nice blend of period-style downstairs with the new contemporary upstairs,” Mr Mercuri said.

“There’s just the most incredible outdoor al fresco setting upstairs as well, which you can see right through to the bay — but it’s protected from the wind so it’s usable all year round.”

Beyond the steel-framed glass front door there is a grand entrance hall that breaks off to four large bedrooms and the study.

The main bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe, an ensuite with a freestanding bath that opens out to north-facing gardens designed by Aleister Branwen Horticulture.

Upstairs, there is an open plan living and dining area with views of the bay, as well as a kitchen fitted with stainless-steel benchtops and a 110mm Wolf stove.

On the terrace, there are an integrated barbecue and retractable awning for outdoor entertaining.

Mr Mercuri said the scale of the home was rare, spanning nearly 700sq m, which was one of the larger blocks in the suburb.

“It’s actually got a lot of privacy because you’ve got these beautiful, mature hedges at the front, the house maintains its privacy, but still captures the views,” he said.

“What the vendor loves about the property as well is, because it’s set back a little bit from the street, it’s really quiet.”

He added that within a week of the residence being on the market, it had the attention of a variety of buyers including those local to the area, within Melbourne and outside the state.

“It’s a very unique property, and one that’s going to draw a lot of probably more passive buyers; these sorts of homes just don’t come up,” Mr Mercuri said.

“People can be waiting three or four or five years for something like this to come up, and when it does, they’ll jump on it.”

Jellis Craig Port Phillip director Simon Gowling, who sold 253 Beaconsfield Parade for a record sum earlier this month, said the top end of the market continued to perform strongly.
