Hundreds of buyers, sellers and spectators will descend on the Gold Coast for the country’s biggest in-room auction this month.
The Event by Ray White Surfers Paradise Group will be held on January 27 with a whopping 111 properties up for sale.
Leading real estate identity Andrew Bell said The Event was the most vibrant live property auction in the country with something for every buyer from surf shacks to mega mansions and sky-high apartments.
“The Gold Coast is alive and well in January, it’s when the city shines, at its best,” Mr Bell said.
“It’s when everyone wants to be here, Magic Millions capitalises on that, as do buyers and sellers in The Event.”

Among the properties to be offered under the hammer is a luxury home at Commodore Drive, Surfers Paradise, two villas at 33 Luguna Ave, Palm Beach and a family estate at 28 Lagoon Park Drive, Maudsland
“There’s prestigious suburbs, prestigious streets, all over the coast and everyone wants in,” Mr Bell said.
“There’s no market in Australia that offers a more solid foundation for the years ahead.
“It’s a very limited space, get in while you can because I predict on the Gold Coast it will be ‘house full’ in the near future.”
The Event started 31 years ago when then-newcomer Mr Bell arrived on the Gold Coast and held an auction event with a dozen properties.
“When we moved here to the Gold Coast from Sydney, I was told that Christmas, New Year, was a time where everything shut down,” Mr Bell said.
“We had an office on Cavill Ave, and I observed over the first Christmas periods, we had all of these people coming into our office looking to buy.
“I thought, we’ve got to do something to capture these people.
“I thought let’s start off with an auction program to attract potential buyers.”
Mr Bell has called more than 20,000 auctions over 40 years and said he had experienced both the highs and lows of real estate.
“The past four years have been remarkable, any agent could list at auction and sell it,” he said.
“But I’ve also experienced periods of time when the market has been absolutely terrible, Global Financial Crisis, stock market crashes, a whole range of factors and I’ve seen through all of those times auctions get the best results.
“In recent years the Gold Coast has been coined the ‘lifestyle capital of Australia’ driving unprecedented demand and heightening the sense of scarcity for those looking to secure real estate.”
The Event is on January 27 from 10am at Royal Pines Resort, Benowa.
