One of the NRL’s great mystery men has listed his house with $6m hopes, but he has had to take a significant financial hit to do so.

Steve Nasteski, a man known in NRL circles as “the art dealer”, has listed his award-winning Invisible House at a bargain price, but you’d better act quick before it disappears.

The incredible James Bond-style home on a 65ha property at 2493 Jenolan Caves Rd, Hampton — on the western slopes of the Blue Mountains — was listed for auction five years ago with a $10m guide.

But it didn’t sell, and now the Peter Stuchbury-designed property, once named Australia’s House of the Year, has appeared on Million Dollar Listing Sydney with a guide of $5.5m-$6m.

Whereas previously it had been with a Sotheby’s agent, the contact is now simply listed as kylie at invisiblehouse1@gmail.com.

The open-plan lounge has a wood-burning fireplace and magnificent panoramic outlook.

The home has won multiple awards.

Nasteski, who’s worth mega millions and reportedly considered a “mystery man” or “back seat driver” in recruitment for the Rabbitohs, owns the home with another high-net worth individual, entrepreneur Steve Shelley, heir to the Shelley soft drink fortune but also co-founder of the workforce management software company Deputy.

Both are also famous for being collectors of luxurious properties in Sydney, but Nasteski’s focus lately has been Byron Bay and Shelley owns what was billed as Australia’s finest house in Cronulla that had a $50m guide a few years back.

Shelley’s racetrack at 8 Prairie Oak Rd, Marulan near Goulburn is listed with Biller Property principal Paul Biller, and his colleague Ben Torban. That has a $10m guide. It’s understood there’s strong interest.

At the time of the 2021 auction listing of The Invisible House, Nasteski was reported as saying it reminded him of something that would have been in a James Bond movie, “in the middle of nowhere with extraordinary views and architecture”.

There are five bedrooms with amazing views.

And an infinity pool.

It won Australian House of the Year in 2014 and later British Architects Award for International Architecture.

It’s named the Invisible House because it’s hidden into the ridgeline for protection from the elements.

Built from off-form concrete, stone, steel, brass and copper, the five-bedroom home has views over the Megalong and Kanimbla Valleys.

This is the life.

Great spot for a chat.
