A developer known for luxury ski chalets has shifted focus from the snow to the coast with the launch of a beachside tower in one of Queensland’s hottest markets.
The first of five high-end apartments to be built on Palm Beach’s Jefferson Lane was snapped up even before hitting the market.
Named Whitehaven, the six-level project by Melbourne-based developer RealStyle comprises four three-bedroom units priced from $2.9m to $5.3m for the double-storey penthouse.
Each apartment occupies a full floor, maximising space, privacy and beach views over a narrow site with just 10m frontage.
A stunning rooftop pool and oceanview entertaining terrace completes the penthouse, while the ground-floor unit also has a private pool.
Hanan agent Jonathon Patton is marketing the project and construction commences in February.
Whitehaven is RealStyle’s second Gold Coast development, coming on the back of more than 20 others in Melbourne and Victoria’s alpine regions.
“I am a keen skiier and began my journey developing chalets in the snow in the mid-2000s when I discovered land at Mt Hotham at that time was incredibly cheap,” RealStyle director Bryce Carroll said.
“Initially, I purchased land for a personal ski property. As the market picked up, I seized the opportunity to build a chalet and next minute it snowballed which led to another four or five properties up there.
“It was a good way to learn about development until the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) killed the lifestyle property market. We adapted and moved to Melbourne where there was demand for luxury homes.”
Recent projects include Evoke, a collection of four architecturally designed mountain lodges in Mount Buller and a pair of contemporary duplexes in Miami.
Mr Carroll said the Gold Coast had evolved beyond its boom-and-bust reputation, with a surging population and infrastructure fuelling sustained growth.
Conceived by Mi Design Studio with interiors by Astrid Wahlstrom, each apartment within Whitehaven has high ceilings and a seamless flow to outdoors with curved balconies mimicking the ripple of waves.
Finishes include limed ash herringbone floors and brushed brass fixtures, while exterior timber-look cladding, glass and intricate batten screens mirror the surrounding coastal landscape.
Backlit stone features in the kitchen along with Miele appliances, anchoring open-plan living spaces encased in floor-to-ceiling glass.
Mr Patton said the third-floor unit was under contract to a local buyer who had been waiting to “pull the trigger” to secure the luxury pad.
The swift sale reflected strong early interest in the project from Queensland as well as interstate buyers.
“The fact that these apartments are all full floor makes it a standout,” Mr Patton said.
“A lot of the new apartments in Palm Beach are either half-floor or four per floor, but here, if you are one owner you are only sharing with four others.
“It is also a really convenient spot for people who want to live at the beach and be so close to all the amenities of Palm Beach.”

Balboa Italian restaurant and other popular cafes as well as the surf club were just metres away.
Mr Patton said the price represented excellent value for a high-end beachside product, and was proving a “sweet spot” for local buyers downsizing from a big house, or those looking for a lock-and-leave holiday home.
Whitehaven is the latest in a string of new projects for the emerging luxury hub of Palm Beach, where apartment prices have soared 10.6 per cent in the past 12 months to a median of $995,000.
