Built from shipping containers and framed by a maple-lined driveway on 11ha of land, Maple Rise is an architecturally designed home that epitomises luxury country living.

Located in Leonards Hill, a 10-minute drive from the day spa and wellness capital Daylesford and a 70-minute drive to Melbourne, the home is currently listed on Airbnb.

However, when the vendors, an empty-nester couple, bought it, they intended to live there permanently.

“We bought the property in December 2020 as our forever home – it had room for our three adult children and where we could host events,” the couple says.

“I was firstly attracted to the location of the house backing on to the Wombat State Forest – I grew up near the Great Dividing Range in Queensland, and it gave me the sense of being where I had grown up,” one of the vendors adds.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom, double-storey home was built by the previous owners using sustainable resources, including shipping containers.

“It has heated floors in the bathrooms for those cold winter mornings – and a fireplace in the cottage and a gas fire in the house lounge room,” explain the vendors.

“There is double glazing throughout, which reduces heating and cooling costs.”

For the vendors, a favourite feature of the home is the windows.

“The whole wall window upstairs in the lounge – from here you can see the kangaroos each morning and views across to Mount Franklin.

“Downstairs in the main bathroom, the bath overlooks the paddocks and shares the view upstairs,” they say.

Luxuriate inside or out.

“Each window is thoughtfully placed to bring the outdoors in.”

The home has no shortage of luxury features that are perfect for entertaining.

Some of the highlights include a wine cellar, a chef’s kitchen, a secluded firepit, a Pimms Bar and heated lap pool.

The property is also home to a separate self-contained unit with a bedroom, kitchen, living area and bathroom.

Perfect for guests, or to be used as short-stay accommodation.

Additionally, there is a large shed with five bays and a “man cave” featuring a mezzanine level and a wood heater.

The grounds themselves include landscaped gardens, dams, and are home to an abundance of wildlife.

“The skies at night are beautiful. We discovered an endangered powerful owl behind our house at night – the call of the female is unforgettable,” the vendors say.

“This is a home for those who love the outdoors and those who love to entertain.”

The property at 1989 Ballan-Daylesford Rd is up for sale with McQueen Real Estate’s Kim McQueen with price expectations from $.4m to $2.5m.
