Scottie Scheffler’s Newborn Son Makes PGA Appearance at The Masters—as Golfer’s Wife Jets to Augusta From Texas 2 Weeks After Giving Birth

Professional golfer Scottie Scheffler has an extra good luck charm at this year's Masters tournament in the form of his newborn son, Remy, who was born less than two weeks before the competition kicked off—but still managed to join his father on the course ahead of the first day of play.

Scheffler, 29, who is currently ranked as the No. 1 player in the PGA's Official World Golf Ranking, was joined at the iconic course in Georgia by his wife, Meredith, his newborn son, Remy, and his older son, Bennett, for the annual Par 3 contest, which traditionally takes place the day before The Masters begins.

Scheffler's family are thought to have jetted into Augusta, GA, from their $2.1 million family home in Texas, after spending the last few weeks soaking up time with their newest arrival.

Meredith, who gave birth on March 27, was seen carrying her baby boy in a white carrier that matched the caddy outfit she was sporting for the family event.

Her son Bennett was also seen wearing a similar design, while carrying a blue plastic golf club that he was seen using.

Scheffler proudly posed for photos with his wife and children on the course, later sharing them on his Instagram, where he gushed about his pride at seeing his newborn make his Masters debut.

"This is what it’s all about! Remy made his big debut and we are officially a family of four," he wrote in the caption.

Scheffler, who is going up against some of the world's greatest players at this year's Masters—including Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau, was quick to praise his wife as a "trooper" for the work that she has done to care for their kids so that he could adequately prepare for the competition.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the start of The Masters, which began on April 9 and runs through April 12, the pro golfer admitted that he hasn't lost any sleep since Remy's arrival—because Meredith has been handling all of the nighttime care.

"I'm getting plenty of sleep. My wife's a trooper," he said, according to NBC News. "Remy is so young right now, they sleep a lot of the day. I think he’s used to being in the womb at this point. Yeah, I’ve been able to get a decent amount of sleep."

He added that he feels in great shape to bring home his third Masters win, noting that the time he took off to spend with his wife and children at home after Remy's birth was the perfect way to rest up ahead of the tournament.

"Game feels like it’s in a good spot,” he said. “I got some rest the last few weeks at home. So I feel rested and ready to go this week."

When asked about the inspiration behind Remy's name, Scheffler told The Associated Press that he and his spouse "just liked it," adding that they "didn’t have very many good boy names."

While Scheffler and his wife try to keep their personal lives as private as possible—keeping the news of Meredith's pregnancy largely under wraps until after Remy's birth—the golfer couldn't contain his excitement at being able to experience this year's Masters alongside his family.

"It’s been really nice, it’s fun. I’m really glad they were able to travel with me this week," he told the Golf Channel ahead of the contest.

Scheffler has previously gushed about his family life, telling Sports Illustrated, "I talk about family being my priority because it really is.

"I'm blessed to be able to come out here and play golf, but if my golf ever started affecting my home life or it ever affected the relationship I have with my wife or my son, that's going to be the last day that I play out here for a living."

He added, "Because I'd much rather be a great father than I would be a great golfer."

The Schefflers' love story started in high school and continued when they attended rival colleges. She graduated from Texas A&M, and Scheffler earned his diploma from University of Texas. They married in December 2020 and had a winter wonderland-themed reception, according to People.

Scheffler and his wife live in a neighborhood just north of downtown Dallas. Their 4,881-square-foot, ranch-style home has five bedrooms and 5.5 baths, according to Realtor.com®. It was built in 1946, but listing photos indicate that the home has been updated.

The inside features lots of bells and whistles for the chef at heart, including a gas cooktop, double oven, and warmer oven drawer. There's also a built-in wine cooler, wet bar, and fireplace.

The backyard is fit for entertaining with a built-in pool and spa. The home welcomes visitors with a circular driveway and a two-car garage.

The home is not in a gated neighborhood, but property records reveal that other homes on the street have sold for over $2 million. A fresh listing on the same street is listing for $3,895,000. It also has five bedrooms and 5.5 baths, and was once featured in D Magazine for its architecture and design.

Scheffler's home is near one of his favorite eateries: Chipotle. Meredith revealed in a video for Golf Digest that her husband has a "very particular" way to get extra toppings on his order. Plus, he likes to eat his bowl with a spoon, according to People.

"No, no, no, no, no—people always eat their Chipotle with a fork, but they use it like a spoon!" Scheffler said, according to People. "They spoon it, but with a fork. It doesn't make any sense. Everyone else has got it wrong. I got it right with a spoon."

Property records show Scheffler, 28, purchased the home back in 2021 for $2.1 million. The median list price for Dallas is $430,000. Property records indicate the home was later transferred into a trust.

His net worth is around $110 million, according to Golf Channel. That figure includes $62.5 million in salary/winnings and $30 million in endorsements. His sponsors include Nike, Rolex, TaylorMade, NetJets, and Veritex Community Bank.
