The Brighton house, where Sam Newman previously lived, has a new owner.
Geelong legend and ex-Footy Show co-host Sam Newman’s former Brighton house has been snapped up by a China-based buyer.
The beachfront property, which Newman sold in 2007, was listed with an $8.5m-$9m range by the current owners.
During the 1990s, Newman sustained a broken leg after his then-girlfriend ran him over outside the residence.

In a separate incident, about two years before he put the abode on the market, Newman confronted another woman as she smashed a window and attempted to break in.
Marshall White director Ben Vieth declined to comment on the sold price for the house which features a pool, spa, lift, two double garages, four living and dining areas and a renovated kitchen with Electrolux appliances.
However, Mr Vieth said the buyer, from China, had purchased through a buyers’ agent.
“There was a combination of local and international buyers but the bulk of genuine inquiries were certainly international, partly because it’s a beachfront property and they’re quite rare in the area,” he said.
The kitchen is fitted with panelled cabinetry, Electrolux appliances, an island bench wrapped in curved timber and a service hatch window.

The house offers beach views with little vegetation in the way.
Some potential local buyers remembered Newman from his time living in the house, Mr Vieth added.
He said that with plenty of developers building apartment complexes on the Brighton foreshore and a scarcity of renovated seaside houses being put up for sale, buyers were prepared to spend between $10m to $30m to secure beachfront homes or land in the suburb.
There’s four bathrooms including an ensuite with a dressing room, in the main bedroom.
The resort-inspired garden includes an undercover entertainers’ area and a pool with an equipment room and a shower room.
Separately, Newman’s childhood home at 40 Kirk Rd, Point Lonsdale, has also been listed for sale.
The house, named Willyama, has been in the Newman family since his father Noel bought it in 1939.
Newman lived at the five-bedroom home before being recruited to play for Geelong.
The property is for sale with a $3.6m-$3.95m range through Fletchers Queenscliff’s Anna Fletcher and Abercromby’s Jock Langley.
The marketing campaign will end with a deadline of 3pm on June 12.
