Sam Newman’s former house at 158 Esplanade, Brighton, is on the market.
Ex-Footy Show star Sam Newman’s former beachfront Brighton house has hit the market with a $8.8m-$9.6m price tag.
Records show the resort-style home is now owned by business bigwig Peter Kirby and wife Erica who bought the 158 Esplanade property in 2020.
An independent director at Japan-based Nippon Paint Holdings (NPHD), Mr Kirby previously served as chairman at both Dulux, which is now part of NPHD, and Medibank.

He’s also been an independent director at Macquarie Bank & Group and Orica Ltd.
The five-bedroom abode featuring a pool, spa and lift has appeared in the headlines across the years thanks to Newman, who sold in 2007.
A decade earlier, the Geelong veteran turned podcaster sustained a broken leg after his then-girlfriend ran him over outside the residence.
In 2005, police were called when a 37-year-old woman smashed a window and was confronted by Newman.
The house is located on an elevated land parcel near the beach.
Sam Newman appeared on The Footy Show from 1994 until 2018. He now has a podcast with former Herald Sun football writer Mike Sheahan and former VFL footballer Don Scott. Picture: David Crosling.
Italian marble, oak flooring, textured carpeting and stone benchtops feature throughout.
Marshall White director Ben Vieth declined to comment on the owners but said he expected the house with dual access from both Esplanade and Victoria St would hold wide appeal including for families and developers.
“There will be many local buyers who aspire to live on The Esplanade with its beautiful bayside views and people from the eastern and northern suburbs who want a sea-change,” Mr Vieth said.
Set on 976sq m, the residence offers two double garages, four living and dining areas, a sheltered outdoor space, renovated kitchen with Electrolux appliances and an island bench and main bedroom showcasing an ensuite and dressing room.
The kitchen is fitted with Electrolux appliances and an island bench wrapped in curving timber. A service hatch window to the garden makes entertaining easy.
Former Dulux chairman Peter Kirby is now an independent director at Japan-based Nippon Paint Holdings, which acquired Dulux in 2019.
Views of the sand and waves from the house.
“One of the most notable features is the uninterrupted views of the bay, with little to no vegetation in the way,” Mr Vieth added.
“The sunsets here are just incredible and the home faces true west.”
He described the pool set-up including palm trees, an equipment room and a shower room with a toilet as feeling like a resort.
A double vanity and shower in one of the bathrooms.
A water feature with a lily pond, paved terrace and a grassed area all feature outdoors.
With the past five years or so, the owners installed the lift and completed cosmetic improvements to the kitchen and bathrooms, Mr Vieth noted.
Expressions of interest close at midday on May 4.
