Fashion label Elk’s founders Marnie Goding and Adam Koniaras are selling a “sky house” in Melbourne’s northeast that’s as stylish as they are.

The duo’s four-bedroom home at 72 Grandview Grove, Rosanna, is on the market with a $3.8m-$4m price tag.

The couple established Elk, a brand with a focus on sustainability, more than 20 years ago.

They now have 10 stores across Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Greater Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.

In January, Vogue Australia named Elk, which stocks clothing in sizes 6 to 18, making it among the nation’s best plus-size and inclusive fashion brands.

Ms Goding said their residence earned its “sky house” moniker with views that stretch as far as the Kinglake Ranges, Yarra Valley and the Dandenongs.

A large, cantilevered outdoor deck featuring a black-tiled pool that almost appears to float in the air is another contributing factor.

The home’s original facade has been preserved in the renovation.

Mountains, greenery and palm trees feature in the views.

Mr Koniaras and Ms Goding bought the house, drawn by the views and Rosanna’s many parks, about 15 years ago.

Their renovation took a couple of years to execute, helmed by acclaimed architect Albert Mo, interior designers Hecker Guthrie, Lazcon Builders and noted landscape designer Paul Bangay, who created the garden.

The house’s 1950s-era triple-fronted, yellow brick facade was retained in the project that was essentially otherwise a new build.

“The renovation was designed at all points so that sky felt like it was part of that lived-in environment,” Ms Goding said.

The pool comes with solar heating and an automatic cover.

Ms Goding said the kitchen was designed with extra-wide benches, as both she and her husband love cooking.

Famous landscape designer Paul Bangay created the gardens.

Set on 1548sq m, with a reflection pond in the front garden, entry to the home is via a main hall that leads to a lounge room warmed by a gas log fireplace.

Double-glazed windows with electric blinds along the abode’s rear capture the panoramic views.

The living and dining space, containing a Jetmaster open fireplace, sits next to a marble-fitted kitchen fitted with a breakfast island bench and butler’s pantry.

Bi-fold doors to the oiled-timber deck and solar-heated pool.

Looking out to the pool, the main bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite with Carrara marble finishes, a twin vanity and rain shower.

The family bathroom with a freestanding bath, powder room, guest bedroom with an ensuite,

and oak floorboards are among the other highlights.

An additional alfresco terrace and garage with a sink and toilet is located below the pool deck.

The home has three bathrooms spread around its floorplan.

Rosanna is about 12km from Melbourne’s CBD.

Ms Goding said the garage’s doors could be opened to the outdoor area to create a massive space ideal for children’s birthday parties with blow-up water slides.

“The outdoor living area and pool is an amazing asset to have when it’s summer, we have a large family and love to get together,” she added.

Sky House has also hosted plenty of fashion campaign and social media shoots, plus a shoot for Marie Claire magazine.

“It shoots so well because there’s so much natural light,” Ms Goding said.

“The colour palette is quite neutral, so anything you put in front of it pops.”

She and Mr Koniaras are selling with plans to move to the Bellarine Peninsula where they have had a holiday home for years, now their children are getting older.

The house has incredible views from its deck.

The property’s four bedrooms include a guest room with an ensuite.

But they will miss their Rosanna neighbourhood.

“We have definitely got a lovely community around us, the neighbours are lovely and we often have chats in the street,” Ms Goding said.

Miles Real Estate partner Paul Carbone said the house was handily positioned near Rosanna Village’s cafes and shops, Rosanna train station, schools, La Trobe University and Austin Hospital.

Mr Carbine said families were among the Sky House’s most interested buyers.

“It has a mid-century look at the front and a really Grand Designs, architectural flair at the back,” Mr Carbone said.

“It’s a bit of a statement but it also feels very homely.”

Expressions of interest for 72 Grandview Grove, Rosanna, close at 1pm on April 1.
