A Queensland couple has dropped $7.7m on a “super-sized” penthouse under construction on the northern Gold Coast.

In a landmark transaction for Hope Island’s prestige property market, a property has sold off-the-plan in Marina Point Apartments through a rare amalgamation of two penthouses into one house-sized residence.

The 553sq m home has 4m ceilings and panoramic river views, setting a new benchmark for waterfront apartment living on the Gold Coast.

Originally designed as two separate three-bedroom penthouses, the new super-sized apartment now includes four bedrooms, a separate study, a 7m x 5m cinema, four bathrooms and a powder room.

Two living areas, four secure car spaces and dual kitchens — one serving as the main culinary hub and the other forming part of a private guest wing — create a home designed for both lavish entertaining and intimate family living.

Other features include a wine bar and fridge, a fireplace and bespoke interior finishes.

The buyers, from nearby Sanctuary Cove, have deep ties to the area with both children living in Hope Island and one of them also purchasing an apartment within Marina Point.

Developer Rick Sheida said the buyers were drawn to the rarity and scale of what Marina Point could offer, including a size and configuration unavailable anywhere else in the local market.

“Opportunities like this don’t come along often,” Mr Sheida said.

“The chance to combine two penthouses into one super-residence is incredibly rare, and we’re open to doing it for other buyers if they come to us before construction progresses too far.

“These buyers had a vision, and we’re thrilled to bring it to life.”

The family also plans to buy a 20m berth in the development’s private marina, despite not owning a boat yet – a purchase that will no doubt follow.

“While our residents are predominantly from the northern Gold Coast region, people from Brisbane are discovering what locals have always known,” Mr Sheida said.

“You can live right on the water, park your boat in your own private marina and still be within easy commuting distance to Brisbane city.

“The appetite for prestigious product is strong and people are willing to open their wallets for something truly exceptional.”

Resident amenities include access to the already completed wellness pavilion with a 25m lap pool, golf simulator room, yoga studio, gym, and sauna, as well as a putting green, and barbecue facilities.

Marina Point is a 2.2ha gated masterplanned community with four boutique buildings, more than 1ha of landscaped gardens and parks, and 370m of water frontage.

Residents will benefit from bridge-free access to the ocean with deep onsite marina

berths capable of accommodating boats up to 25m in size.

Apartments are selling from $1.3m for a three-bedroom apartment to more than $4m for 319sq m penthouses.

Stage two construction, which includes the super-sized penthouse, is underway and expected to be completed mid 2027.

The Marina Point showroom is onsite at 72 View Line Terrace, Hope Island and open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
