Kent Town’s population is set to increase over the coming weeks as new residents move into the exciting new apartment complex Parkline.

Opened today by housing and urban development minister Nick Champion, the Chasecrown development is a 12-storey, 61-luxury apartment complex at 9 Dequetteville Tce, and is 90 per cent sold, with just a few ‘sky homes’ on the higher levels available.

Residents of these higher-level homes will enjoy sweeping views over the parklands and CBD, as well as more distant views towards the coast and Adelaide Hills.

Chasecrown director and project architect Louis Kanellos said its opening was a significant milestone.

“From the outset, our vision was to create homes that feel expansive, light-filled and enduring in their design,” he said.

“Every detail – from the spacious layouts to the premium materials and carefully curated interiors – has been considered to elevate everyday living.

“The building’s orientation maximises the stunning panoramic views across the city skyline and out to the hills and coastline – residents will enjoy a daily connection to the very best our city has to offer.

“We look forward to welcoming residents to their new homes over the coming weeks.”

One of the three-bedroom sub-penthouses is currently on the market for $5.25m through Nick Pelvay of Fox Real Estate, with its realestate.com.au advertisement listing “never to be built out parkland views over Rundle Park, two balconies, four parking spaces, 3m ceilings, and double-glazed windows” among its features.

“Parkline is Chasecrown’s latest masterpiece – a boutique collection of exceptional residences that capture the rich spirit of Kent Town,” the advertisement reads.

“The result is an address that spectacularly embodies the local history that precedes it and the parklands that surround it.”

Mr Champion said the flow-on effects to other househunters would be significant.

“We need more homes to be built for all South Australians and we celebrate all developments opening up that add housing supply to the market,” he said.

“As people move transition into apartment living, it frees up family homes in the suburbs, meaning less pressure on the housing and rental markets.

“The Parkline apartments are a benchmark for stunning design in a priceless location right on the doorstop of the CBD.”

The building has a grand private lobby off of King William St, a multi-purpose business and residential lounge with a bookable meeting room.

Parkline’s completion is the latest in a rush of new city and city-fringe apartment complexes to have been completed, commenced or proposed in recent years, with the State Government’s City Building Heights Code Amendment last year likely to lead to further growth in high-rise living.

And it seems South Australians can’t get enough of it – SA leads the nation in housing approvals, with private‑sector unit approvals almost doubling last year and increasing by 96 per cent to 4,646.

This is the highest rate since 1983.
