Famous Aussie swim coach and viral video star Dean Boxall is selling what he described as his “dream home” by the Brisbane River.
Boxall is best known for coaching Olympic gold medallist Ariarne Titmus, and his reaction to her 2021 win in Japan was captured as one of the biggest viral moments of the games.
His place at 42 Mandalay St, Fig Tree Pocket, is a four-bedroom two-bathroom home he’d been living in since shortly after the Japan Olympics.

Boxall’s years spent in the home with his family gave him first-hand experience with the neighbourhood, which was a popular hub at times like Halloween.
“The community is unbelievable, our neighbours are unbelievable – we have lifelong friends there,” he said. “We’ve had some great entertainment there with friends and families.”
The house is set on a 630 sqm block of land, and features a renovated kitchen built for modern dining on an indoor-outdoor floor plan.
42 Mandalay St is on 630 sqm of property, and has been lived in by Boxall since 2021.
But one of Boxall’s favourite locations in the house was a newsroom beneath the stairs, full of photos his wife had put together.
“When I was in Tokyo, and with all the sort of palaver that was taking place,” he said, “my wife was just collating a lot of news articles and stories.”
“I went to Tokyo, and then going into Paris, she just collected and collated more information and awards and photos, and she made it into a newsroom. And it’s a room that we go and sit down [in], and we have wine there.”
The house is placed in a quiet area near the river with an active community popular during celebrations like Halloween.
Along with photos of his career, there’s a custom illustration of Boxall with a Batman costume, sitting right above a photo capturing his viral moment.
“I’m in love with Batman,” Boxall said. “I use all the quotes, and I talk to the swimmers about Batman … I reckon you can learn so much from [him].”
Boxall’s newsroom has moments from his professional career, along with a custom illustration of him with Batman’s suit.
Agent Chrissie Krummel of Chrissie Krummel Properties said the location of Fig Tree Pocket meant it was a popular spot for families raising their children.
“It’s a riverside location in such a family friendly area,” she said. “Kids can just be kids down here, they can ride their bikes to parks and go fishing … have a lifestyle they can’t have in other areas.”
While the coach is leaving the house, he plans to stay nearby to keep close to schools and friends.
Boxall said the family decided to part ways with the home for another place in the same area, which they hope they can use for their retirement.
“We technically never wanted to leave,” he said. “Our dream home was this one. That’s why we got in there four years ago – but it’s just evolved.”
Boxall said while he was a competitive person, it was a whole different world when competing in the real estate game.
“Everybody’s in the same game, the same boat, trying to push,” he said. “It’s very different to the sporting world … you can actually see the athlete, you can study the athlete. With this, you don’t get to see potential other buyers.”
