NRL enforcer Thomas Flegler, out injured for the Dolphins after suffering nerve damage to his shoulder in round five, is set to receive a hefty Brisbane payout.
The 190cm prop born in Innisfail, whom the NRL calls “a star off-season recruit” from the Broncos to north Brisbane-based Dolphins, has begun making moves of his own just weeks after Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett said ”we don’t know whether he will play again or when he will play”.
Mr Flegler has vowed to fight back to match fitness, and begun shoring up his situation, putting his Brisbane home up for sale.

Mr Bennett had told NRL media in mid-June that Mr Flegler’s shoulder was “nowhere near being able to play or determine what his future looks like”
“You have just got to deal with it. There’s no good being a sook about it, but he has been good, I think he has handled it well.”
Mr Flegler is determined to fight his way back onto the field to star level again in 2025 even if it means changing a few things about his game.
The son of a renowned banana farming family in Far North Queensland has put his three bedroom, two bathroom, triple car park house in Everton Hills up for sale – bought for $595,000 six years ago ahead of his stunning debut with the Brisbane Broncos.

Mr Flegler stands to make a solid sum off the sale, with the median house price in Everton Hills hitting $950,000 last month, having jumped 41.3 per cent in the last three years.
He has refurbished the property since he’s owned it and made it more family friendly. The double storey house is on a 683sq m block which is very spacious with room for expansion.
His real estate agents Danny Cody and Matthew Jabs of Place Newmarket said the house was the “very essence of comfortable living” in a popular pocket of Everton Hills.
Mr Flegler also owns a two bedroom townhouse in Gympie bought for $320,000 in November 2021 which is classed as owner-occupied and not rented out according to property records.
And he has also decided to bunker down in comfort during his recovery in Brisbane, putting his name on a $2.75m house on 2.2 acre block in Brisbane’s west, about 50 minutes from Redcliffe where the Dolphins are based.

His new hilltop home is enormous with 465sq m of luxury living, five bedrooms, a spa, butler’s pantry, home theatre, outdoor kitchen, resort-style heated self-cleaning saltwater pool, large shed with 3-phase power, a 20,000 litre underground tank, 5kw solar, fenced dog pen and just 2.5km from the nearest shopping centre.
The Dolphins have signed Tongan international and former Broncos, Bulldogs and Blues forward Tevita Pangai Junior to bolster their ranks in the meantime, with the team thrashing the Brisbane Broncos in round 26 over the weekend 40-6. The NRL season has 27 regular rounds, before entering quarterfinals for the top eight, eventually ending with the Grand Final on Sunday October 1.
