Architecturally renovated with family in mind, the planning process behind the redesign of this four-bedroom Northcote home was unequivocally dedicated.

“When we were planning the renovation, it worked for both us and our architect and his family to live in the property for nine months,” owner Thomas Priestley said.
“This meant we could be thoughtful about the design: the light at certain times of day and how the floorplan would flow.”

“The materials palette was important to us, too: recycled bricks from the old house, local timbers for example,” Mr Priestley said.
The open-plan dining, family and kitchen zone are bathed in natural light and incorporate a banquette and day bed with bi-fold windows opening to the garden.
The kitchen features a 900mm freestanding Smeg stove, Asko dishwasher, a timber breakfast bar, and a walk-in pantry.

The house also includes eco-friendly features such as solar panels, a priority for the vendors.
“The green roof is a special feature,” Mr Priestley said
“The house used to have a larger and established garden and we really wanted to ‘give back’ green space when we renovated.
“It was established so quickly and now requires practically zero attention as well as insulating the property.”
Standout qualities include a 600-plus bottle cellar, city views, elegant fireplaces, and generously sized bedrooms.

“There’s a vibrant local community,” Mr Priestley said.
