Art gallery creator Bruce Peterson’s 71 Blair Court, Portsea, home has been described as like a ‘nightclub’.

Art gallery creator Bruce Peterson, the brains behind THE LUME and Van Gogh Live, has just listed his nightclub-style Portsea home for sale

Peterson founded Grande Experiences which produces and commercialises arts and culture experiences around the world, and launched THE LUME in Melbourne in 2021.

The company also has a private museum called Leonardo da Vinci Museo in Rome, Italy and has run exhibits 280 times across the globe with 24 million visitors.

Property records show the entrepreneur is now selling his five-bedroom abode at 71 Blair Court with $7m-$7.5m price hopes.

While Sotheby’s International Realty Peninsula managing director Rob Curtain declined to comment on who the owner was, he said it was a very interesting and polarising home that had changed a lot over the years.

“It’s a beautifully built home and a great, entertaining home,” he said.

“It’s not your traditional beach house which most people think when they think of Portsea … (it’s) a Melbourne home down the beach.”

THE LUME in Melbourne was a highly popular exhibition.

Designed by Cocks Carmichael Architects, Mr Curtain added the residence looked like a nightclub.

“When you look at the entry, you’ve got concrete stairs in the middle and then you’ve … probably got nearly two meters of feature concrete on the side of that,” he said.

“At night, you definitely feel like you’ve waited in queue for two hours to get in and now you’re going to walk up the stairs to where all the action is.”

The backyard is full of artistic architecture.

The home has multiple living areas with relaxed living vibes to them.

He said the house was designed for people with artistic flair and imagination, as the home was “a piece of art”.

“You’re not going to walk into another house in Portsea, I guarantee it, that is going to be the same design as this house,” he said.

Unique features include Japanese Zen courtyards and two open fireplaces.

The Mornington Peninsula pad also has an expansive open plan kitchen fitted with Wolf ovens, a Subzero fridge and butler’s pantry, as well as a dining and living area adjacent to the north-facing pool terrace all on a single level.

A sleek kitchen at the heart of the home has stone surfaces and extensive appliances.

With its own fireplace, the back yard offers a perfect place to sit no matter what the season.

In its basement floor, there is a 150sq m three-car garage, utility area, wine cellar and a gym or games room.

Expressions of interest close at 3pm April 8.
